User profile

It used to be possible to click on a user's icon and find out a little bit about them, including their profile, if they wrote one. Now, the only profile I can see is my own, and I can only see that when I'm logged in. What good is a profile if only the user can see it?

Maybe I'm missing a setting someplace.

  • hi John-project You’re not missing anything — this is a recent change in how profiles work in the Microsoft Tech Community. Previously, profile pages (with bios, activity, etc.) were publicly viewable. Now, most of that information is private, and only you can see your own profile details when signed in.

At the moment, there isn’t a setting to make your profile visible to others. The change was made to simplify privacy and security, so profiles now mainly serve as a personal space for managing your own activity and preferences.

If you’d like this feature brought back, I’d recommend sharing feedback through the Community Ideas section — Microsoft does monitor suggestions there.
