Ranks
RenJones Hi
This is one of the discussions - which asks whether we should be certified to be an expert?
What do you think?
Do we need Certification? - Microsoft Tech Community
Deleted I don't think so. As these ranks would be common for all communities- you'd need to count certifications that were irrelevant to the subject the person was answering a question on. Additionally, some tech community subjects don't have a relevant certification at all.

Of course, this was an example that - does not apply to MTC, because we are here to learn and help others!
But being appreciated in the Community is important – there's no perfect way to do it.
It's worth talking about because Microsoft wants to recognize people fairly for their contributions and skills - this is the reason for this discussion.

Deleted yes absolutely 🙂 I think number of liked and 'best response' replies on MTC is the fairest metric to base these ranks on. In my opinion, they should reflect the time you've given to the community and how much other users value your input.

RenJones,
Your 100% right in the way your thinking about this. Ranks for us are like a way of us recognizing those who have knowledge to share with the community while encouraging users who are still learning to contribute to the discussion.
We will definitely keep in mind what you have said as we start to think through in more detail what these ranks look like.
I was hoping for some more fun ideas for rank names but what we will do is keep the naming options open and allow users to contribute ideas for longer while we continue to developer our plans.
