My Tech Community Inbox is broken

The badge on the envelope icon said I had 9 unread messages, but when I clicked on it I just got a blank list with a "loading" animation. It disappears after a minute or so, but nothing loads.

I tried sending myself a test message, and now the badge says I have 10 unread messages, but the inbox still isn't working.

Thanks.

Welcome to the Microsoft Tech community Lounge, let me start by apologizing for the bug you are facing. It's relating to a bug in the new platform when handling private messages sent to large groups of users and we have been slowly fixing the issues it caused - clearly we have not fixed it entirely yet.

I can apply a work around in the mean time to remove all the messages in your PM's and that will clear the error. I can confirm that at this time all the PM's you have are of this type with the exception of the most recent one which appears to be a test message you sent yourself.

Let me know if you would like me to do this.

I have the same issue, and Copilot is saying the same thing and that someone needs to clear my inbox:

✅ Your Tech Community inbox is not loading because it is broken on Microsoft’s side

This is not an Edge issue, not a Chrome issue, not an extension issue, and not anything you can fix locally.

According to Microsoft’s own Technical Lead, the inbox can become corrupted when private messages were sent to large groups of users, and the platform fails to render them. This produces the exact symptoms you’re seeing:

    • Badge shows unread messages
    • Inbox page loads blank
    • DevTools shows component‑removal errors
    • Works differently across browsers
    • No way to open the messages yourself

This is confirmed directly by Microsoft’s response in the Tech Community forum.

🎯 The only working solution: Microsoft must clear your inbox manually

    From the Microsoft Technical Lead:

“It’s relating to a bug in the new platform when handling private messages sent to large groups of users… I can apply a workaround to remove all the messages in your PMs and that will clear the error.”

This is exactly your situation — you have 41 messages, and the system cannot render them.

📌 What you need to do (the only path that works)

Go to this thread and post your issue:

“My Tech Community inbox is blank and won’t load. Please apply the workaround to clear my PMs.”

Here is the official thread where Microsoft handles these requests:
    https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/discussions/communityquestions/my-tech-community-inbox-is-broken/4470650

The Microsoft Technical Lead (Allen Smith) will clear your inbox on the backend.
Once they do, the page loads instantly.

I’m having a similar issue on my side, not with the Tech Community inbox but with Outlook itself. My domain doesn’t always sync properly, and sometimes the mailbox shows new messages but the list won’t load, just keeps spinning like yours.
