copilot chats not avalible
My chats went unavalible after the latest update, so now I cannot access the chats I use most. I get response that this chat cannot be opened. None of my chats can't be opened after the latest update, and syncing of the chats.

The “This chat cannot be opened” message doesn’t necessarily mean your conversations have been deleted. Since all of them stopped opening after the update, first check whether the problem is with the app or with access to your account’s chat history.
Try Copilot in a browser using the same Microsoft account. For personal Copilot, use https://copilot.microsoft.com/; for work or school, open Microsoft 365 Copilot through your organisation’s account. Make sure you haven’t switched between a personal and work account with the same email address.
If the chats open in the browser, use that temporarily, then sign out of the affected app, fully close it, and sign back in. If you’re already using the browser, try a private window to test with a fresh session.
If the same chats fail in both places, reinstalling the app is unlikely to help. Report it through Copilot’s Help/Feedback option, including the exact error, app version, and when it started.
Avoid deleting the affected conversations while troubleshooting—you may still be able to regain access once the underlying issue is resolved.
hi Sarah35487 If this started immediately after the recent Copilot update and none of the existing chats can be opened, it sounds more like a synchronization or service-side issue than a problem with one particular conversation.
Microsoft's documentation confirms that signed-in Copilot users should be able to access their previous conversation history. For personal Copilot, Microsoft currently says the service retains the last 18 months of interactions.
A few things are worth checking before assuming the chats are gone:
Make sure you're signed in with the same Microsoft account that was used for those conversations.
Try accessing the history directly through Copilot on the web, rather than only through the updated app.
Sign out and back in, then check whether the conversations become available.
If possible, test from another device or browser.
Check whether all chats fail or only certain older conversations.
If the chats are visible in the history list but every one returns "This chat can't be opened," that's an important detail to include when reporting the issue. It suggests the history itself is still being displayed, but the conversation content isn't being retrieved successfully.
I wouldn't delete the chats, clear activity history, or make other changes to the account while troubleshooting. If the problem continues across browsers/devices, Microsoft Support would need to investigate the account/service side.
It would also be helpful to include the Copilot version, device/OS, browser or app being used, when the problem started, and whether the same chats fail on copilot.com. Those details can help determine whether this is a local app issue or something happening with the Copilot service.
