Real-World Migration: Windows 7 & Server 2012 R2 to Azure using ASR & Azure Migrate

It's exciting to see the continued innovation in Azure migration and modernization with the introduction of Azure Copilot Migration Agent.

This announcement resonates with a recent customer engagement where I successfully migrated legacy Windows 7 VM and Windows Server 2012 R2 workloads to Azure. As part of the project, I utilized Azure Migrate to perform comprehensive assessments, generate detailed migration reports, analyze workload dependencies, and develop a well-structured migration strategy.

For the server migration, Azure Site Recovery (ASR) played a key role in enabling a seamless transition with minimal downtime and reduced operational risk. The combination of Azure Migrate and ASR simplified the overall migration process, provided valuable insights for decision-making, and helped ensure a successful outcome for the customer.

Seeing AI-driven capabilities being integrated into the migration journey is a significant step forward. Features such as automated discovery, intelligent recommendations, and accelerated planning have the potential to further streamline complex migration projects and help organizations modernize with greater confidence.
