Reading emails - how is it calculated?
Hi all,
we see that also reading an email that was sent to me is now a signal picked up by Viva. What actual collaboration timing is associated with it? If I am not mistaken sending an email was considered as 8 minutes of collaboration time, so we would like to know how long is it considered reading and email?
By definition therefore if I receive an email after hours but do not read it, it will not be counted as after-hours collaboration time. If could also confirm this it would be greatly appreciated 🙂
The description of these metrics is not available in https://learn.microsoft.com/en-nz/viva/insights/advanced/reference/metrics.
Many thanks,
Stefania
Hi stefania_n, for Workplace Analytics email reading/sending is calculated as follows: users get 5 min for sending emails and 2.5 minutes for emails they receive.
On the new platform, Nova there are different time assumptions: 60 sec for sending emails and 30 sec for reading emails. Unfortunately I don’t think these assumptions are documented.
You are correct with your assumption on after-hours. If you don't open an email during the after-hours period, it won't be counted as after-hours collaboration time.
