Where can I manage staff Skills/Responsibilities/Projects?
- Jul 16, 2023
paobmmc I hope you're doing well but In Microsoft 365, including SharePoint and Delve, user profile information such as skills, responsibilities, and projects can be managed through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and the Microsoft 365 Delve application. As an admin, you can set some of this information on behalf of the staff, but the availability of certain fields may vary based on the organization's settings and licensing. I hope this helps.
Here's how you can manage staff skills, responsibilities, and projects:
1. Microsoft 365 Admin Center:
As an admin, you can manage user profile properties in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. However, it's important to note that not all fields visible in Delve may be available for direct editing in the admin center. To access and manage user profiles in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center:
- Go to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center: https://admin.microsoft.com/
- Sign in with your admin credentials. From the admin center, you can navigate to "Users" and select an individual user to manage their profile information. However, keep in mind that some fields, such as responsibilities and projects, may not be editable from the admin center and could be populated from other Microsoft 365 services or applications.
2. Delve
Delve is a Microsoft 365 application that helps users discover and organize their content, as well as explore relevant content from others within the organization. In Delve, users can set their own skills, responsibilities, and projects in their profile. As an admin, you may not have the direct ability to set these fields for individual users in Delve. Users typically have control over their own Delve profiles, and the information is self-curated by them.
3. Azure Active Directory (AAD)
While some user profile properties can be managed through AAD, the "Responsibilities" field may not be directly editable from there. Azure Active Directory primarily handles identity-related information, and not all Delve-specific fields are exposed in the AAD user properties. To summarize, you can manage some user profile properties in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, but the "Responsibilities" field and certain other fields related to Delve profiles may be managed by individual users in the Delve application.
