Reading the Contents of an laccdb file

Hi,

I am working on a Access database (2010 ACCDB file) which keeps corrupting. I am currently looking for any record locking issues. I noticed that I am able to open the laccdb file using Notepad and read the current users within the file as plain text. I found this unusual as normally if I try to view this file using Notepad I just see unreadable characters. So then I thought maybe I have an issue with the laccdb file. Is it normal to be able to view the laccdb as plain text with a text editor? (it appears the file is just a plain text file rather than the native laccdb format.
