How to stop report from summing duplicate values in Access

I inherited a DB that has a report that is summing values from certain fields holding money values.

The fields have records with duplicate values due to necessary grouping.

How can I get the report to stop summing the duplicates and only sum a value once from a given similar record?

There are other fields that hinder the records from grouping into less records than its currently producing, which, for certain other fields of the data, is actually necessary.

  • Hi,

I think a potential solution depends on details that are not yet clear:

    1. Where does the summing take place? At group level, e.g. in a group footer, or only once for the whole report, e.g. in the report footer?

    2. Which method is used to sum? If it is done by an expression, can you show it?

    3. Where and how does the duplication of records take place? Already in the record source (query?) or only in the report?
