Access doesn't close properly. A remaining background process can only be terminated in task manager

    Hi Karl,
    Installed version 2405 when it came out and Access closed normally. I disabled further updates. Some time later, feeling over confident, I unblocked updates and things fine for a while, and then unexpectedly, about three days ago the problem returned. I am running version 2408 Build 17928.20114 and can confirm the report of LeanardC1795 that the problem has returned. I plan to roll back to a previous version using your Method 1 at https://www.accessforever.org/post/roll-back-to-previous-versions-of-office. Hope roll back works! Sorry, I have no idea what the issue with version 2408 is.

        Hi,

         

        Today I have updated the status section in our documenting article.


        The bad news is that the fix for the Current Channel is to be expected only next week.

        The good news is that it has been available in the Current Channel Preview (CCP) since yesterday. So, if you are in that (beta) channel the problem should be resolved.

        See the AFo article for details. As written there, fix reports from CCP are welcome.

      Cannot rollback to any version prior to 2408: 

      No connection problem found.  Method 2 also failed after download.  Try again tomorrow. 

       

      Re version 2408: The problem seems to be intermittent: NorthWind Dev closes normally, as does one of my apps but .. one other of my apps reliably has the problem.  Both my apps with "Application.Quit acQuitSaveAll"

        Still running version 2408. Problem seems to be solved. Access now closes normally. Got the fix from Dan Pineault at https://www.devhut.net/another-msaccess-exe-process-not-closing-properly-bug/. As Dan suggested I made the path/folder to the mis-behaving accdb a safe location Got my fingers crossed. Maybe this is a solution.

    Hi Karl_Donaubauer , Access version 2408(Build 17928.20114) has this issue.
