SharePoint Pages: Introducing Sections with AI

Sections with AI is a new SharePoint authoring tool that allows users to create full-fidelity SharePoint sections with just a prompt

Sections with AI works by first looking at the context of your page to offer prompt suggestions for what content you need next to offer a starting point.

Next, you either select one of those starting points or write your own and optionally ground in relevant files to give the AI more context.

Once you click generate, Sections with AI then leverages your sources, the knowledge and content already inside of your organization, and the content already on your page to create rich sections that go beyond just image and text. This could mean including information from meeting transcripts, recent documents, or any other knowledge Copilot has access to. Toggle between options in the header and choose your favorite!

If the output section isn't quite right, you can then use AI refinement to make changes to both the content and layout of your section. Some examples include "change the background image", "add John Smith's contact information", or "make the text more professional".

You can also get different suggestions by clicking "regenerate" to get more options.

Once you have a section you like, click “Add to page” to add it to your canvas, and edit it as you would any other section.

When will this feature be available?

General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): Rollout begins late August 2025.

What are the source types for the content in section?

You can generate section information based on files or meeting transcripts. We are looking for your input on potential future direction on the required options with the source files.

How do I control what will be published?

Copilot generates draft content for the section and will not automatically publishing anything. You are in full control on updating or changing the generated content and make decisions on what gets published.
