I'm not sure who at Microsoft thought PowerAutomate or Rules was a better approach to Alerts. I manage 12 SP sites with a combined 80+ libraries that make up our company intranet. I have daily summary Alerts set for all of the libraries to let me know whenever a file or page has been created / modified / deleted so I can verify that naming conventions, metadata, links, etc. are maintained correctly. With the upcoming retirement of Alerts, I now find myself having to extend each month the expiration date of the Alerts across all 80 libraries.
Trying to replace Alerts with Rules is insanity - why would I want to go from 80+ daily summary Alerts that give details to 240+ Rules resulting in an email everytime anything is done????????
I've unsuccessfully leveraged Microsoft's Copilot to try to create a PowerAutomate to perform the function and our company SharePoint team opened a ticket with Microsoft Support last July to help us with a PowerAutomate approach and as of yet they have not resolved the ticket.
If Microsoft is not able to create a PowerAutomate (either via Copilot or human support) how on earth do they expect users to be able to do so?? Really, seriously, please explain this!!!
I agree with all of the users comments below begging Microsoft to NOT RETIRE Alerts and to take away the need to extend expiration dates until such time as Microsoft has a simple to create / use replacement.
