Under header, design I can upload an image file. It would be great to see the extended dialog here to choose from gallery, web and site.

Hi Dennis, 

Thank you for the ask! Yes, we do offer the image picker experience for the new Header & Footer image as background. You are able to select images from the Stock images, Web search, and Site:)

    Hello TinaChen​ 

    Thank you for your prompt response. I see the "Add an image" button, leading to the new image picker, when I design the Header on the website's homepage. Great work! I was on list view page (“/Forms/AllItems.aspx”), design, header showing an upload link (sorry for German screenshot). SharePoint is a hydra with thousands of heads 😊
