Hi EmmiTuranlahti, padavison, and AndreeS, thank you for your patience on waiting on the opt-out feature that will prioritize the "Saved on this Site" tab over the "From Microsoft" one. On the backend- there are many technical reasons that this change has turned out to be more complicated, and taken us longer, than initially anticipated. The enormous adoption of this feature as well has meant we've had to balance our development time between fixing the tab order and ensuring quality and reliability of our email experience. What I can tell you is we are looking to make the opt out site level EmmiTuranlahti , much in the same way that you can set an individual template as your site default through the '...' menu next to an individual template, and we are working to achieve this change as fas as we can.
padavison, I hear you on decreasing email load on users, I know my inbox is a mess and I would absolutely miss important messages (like these post notifications!) without many layers of outlook filters. What I will say is it seems like this feature is doing what Stefan_Spinnler implied- and allowing users to not have to use another newsletter product to send out the same information they put in a News Post. Also, even with these email newsletters, you can always choose not to send to mail at all, and just publish as News.
AndreeS , I'm so sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with this feature, and that the rollout left much to be desired. It is always our goal as a platform to offer more capabilities to our users that will allow them to do more without derailing existing processes and workflows. As the feature owner of this experience, candid feedback such as yours is a genuine gift, and helps me and my team do better.
I'd love to learn more about your experience using news and using news templates if you don't mind me asking:
- How many saved templates does your org tend to use, and of what frequency?
- Does the existing News digest meet all of your current distribution needs? Is there any way we could make it better?
- If I could wave a magic wand and have the "saved on this site tab" show first tomorrow, would the 'send as email' feature be at all desirable for you if applied to your existing saved templates rather than our 'from Microsoft' ones?
Let me know, I'd love to chat further 🙂
