I am an consultant building SharePoint intranets since many years. Not only one customer in the last years required such feature sending news with full body via email internally. "E-mail"-like customers were fine with the manual "news digest" option how I call it. So therefore from my POV this is an unnecessary new feature in SharePoint Online for intranets in the era of non internal email communication in companies with Viva Engage & Teams.
Additionally you destroyed the Page template choose dialog from an usability standpoint. The most intranet editors, who I teach now running directly in the mistake to choose one of the colorful catchy mail news templates instead of the provided corporate news templates.
So therefore I need urgently for my non-email customers the powershell command to disable this useless feature on website level + restoring the old UI to show the custom page templates on the first page in the dialog. For the meantime your developers could implement an additional query parameter for /_layouts/15/CreatePageFromTemplate.aspx to jump directly on the tab "saved on this site". Then we could provide the intranet editors an tailored button/navigation link.
I am really disappointed about the wasted time at Microsoft product group to develop such feature instead of other features with higher demand. Additionally the rollout of this feature in the tenants were not smoothly at all.
