This September brings bug fixes, accessibility improvements, and labels in Grid view for the Planner app for Microsoft Teams. We’ve been listening to your feedback and hope these latest features that will make managing your tasks even easier. Also, check out our recent AMA to learn more about what's coming next for the new Planner!

Labels column now in Grid view

Organize and categorize your tasks more efficiently using the labels column in your basic plans’ Grid view. We’ve commonly heard this feature request from customers and hope this feature makes it easier for you to track progress and manage your projects. Try it out by navigating to Grid view for any basic plan and selecting “Add label” for any task in the Labels column. You can edit the name of the label by selecting the label on the task, and filter by label to get a more granular view of your plan.

Improvements to plan accessibility

We are committed to making Planner accessible to everyone. This update includes several improvements as we work towards that vision:

  • Corrected instruction for the label menu in the task details page: We've made it easier to understand and use the label menu, ensuring that everyone can effectively categorize their tasks.
  • Edit key dates associated with a task using a keyboard: You can now edit start and due dates using your keyboard, making it more convenient for users who prefer keyboard navigation.
  • Narrator now correctly reads selected values for task’s priority and progress fields

Bug fixes to My Day

We've also addressed some bugs to improve your experience with the My Day page in the Planner app. With this latest set of updates, you can expect To Do tasks due today and newly created tasks to show up correctly on My Day.

Share your feedback

Your feedback helps inform our feature updates and we look forward to hearing from you as you try out Planner’s new and existing capabilities! To share your feedback about the new Planner app in Teams, including bugs you’ve observed in our product, you can navigate to the icon in the Planner app and select 'Feedback'. We also encourage you to share any features you would like to see in the app by adding it to our Planner Feedback Portal.

    Hi there,
If you really consider a customer feedack as a gift, I’d like to offer some honest input, shared by several other users as well.

It's hard to believe that certain basic features—like comments within tasks—are missing from the premium version, especially when they’re available in simpler planners.
Relying on Teams for discussions feels impractical, and frankly, it doesn’t make sense for a premium version to exclude such essential functions.

Users expect the premium version to include everything from the basic package, plus additional features.
It’s puzzling that something as fundamental as comments was left out.

I think most users would prefer the flexibility to choose their preferred tools. If the aim is to promote discussions, it would be best to offer both Discussions and Comments within the task cards, along with customizable visualization options for Descriptions and Checklists.

It's clear that Microsoft is loosing market share to other vendor because you guys don't provide more flexibility and integration on the Planner.

Is the new 2024 Planner part of an E5 license? Or is it only available to those who have a Microsoft Project license? It seems like new features are bring rolled out for additional fees such as Microsoft Places. I hope that's not the case with Planner.

  • Planner allows comments on a task.
Project requires going to teams for a 'discussion'.
I find this a less desirable flow.
Keep comments/conversation as part of a card, please!

When clicking the My day section it takes > 30 seconds to load ~ 20 tasks (most of them created in Todo). Can we expect any improvements? It's a very unpleasant user experience.
