Dear Microsoft,
Sometimes the term "when it's not broken don't fix it" comes into play on established software UI. You've heard the stories of Muscle Memory, where someone who is used to driving a road a thousand times, suddenly crashes because some 'improvements' were made to the roadway, and they simply didn't realize it.
Well here we sit in front of our millions of computers, facing this 'improvement'. When your Muscle Memory and logical mind is used to finding the search bar nestled in the top of the screen, you know where to go, you know where to look for the variables you are searching for. But lo and behold, someone, somewhere has a Apple Iphone in their pocket. Maybe they are Millennial Engineer out to prove themselves? Maybe they were raised with an Iphone or Ipad from birth and it makes all the sense in the world to have the computer screen look like their Iphone? Well, let me tell you for all the frustrated people working in the real world, juggling maybe two or a whole diverse palette of software UIs, there is something to be said for consistency.
Please change it back!
On another note, when the Outlook is in its apparent default, not-full-screen size (I don't know the technical term, because I don't need to) it is impossible to drag Outlook somewhere else on the screen, or if you have dual screes, drag it to somewhere on the other screen. The reason appears to be that some insightful Engineer said, "Hey we have room for another button at the top of the window" which quite frankly has no business being there. Ribbons, they are almost as bad a Adobe Flash plugins. Please get rid of that button, at very least, if you cannot solve the search window issue that you have created for all your users.
Best regards,
Richard Perkins
