A few days back I too had the search bar at top. At first I thought "No big deal" .... but very soon it was obvious it IS a big deal. The combination of being on top PLUS the "suggestions" it is giving now, are totally and utterly non-productive.
I used Office Outlook for many years and this is without any doubt the worst change ever.
Sure, there are scenarios where it can work. But for a normal Outlook search option it is just ridiculous:
- The placement is utterly non-logical. This together with the HUGE files and (again) utterly non-logical way now to search in folders.
- Easy search is gone now with that HUGE drop down menu.
- I was searching for fruit and the suggested Action was to use COM-apps???
- Also, suggested search terms? When I search for fruit, I KNOW I am searching for fruit. If I am looking for Adam Smith, I KNOW I am looking for him. There is no need for a simple search to give "suggestions" like I don't know what I am looking for???
But what really totally baffles me is that this whole Outlook Search change started over a year ago.
I did some research here and other sources and the general opinion was negative. In this blog but also the Insider Previews started in September 2019: the general consensus was negative. All the same kind of reactions we are seeing now. Not only here on the MS forums, but on countless other sites: from Reddit to professionals. And again in those reactions the same too: in certain scenarios this new search is logical but for the normal Outlook Search it useless.
The amount of arrogance that MS is showing here by totally ignoring all the feedback given in the last 1 and a half year is just unbelievable!!
The posted blog is from April 2019 and it 14 months it has 9 likes. That in itself should have been clear. That together with all the negative comments.
