I find it stunning that Microsoft would first decide that the search bar should be separated from the results by the menu bar and ribbon then not give users the options of keeping the old location. The new location is totally disjointed and less functional for finding specific emails which I need to do frequently.
Go ahead and put a search bar at the top that searches for emails, commands, and whatever else... that sounds great... but why in the world would you move the tool I use to filter emails away from the data I'm filtering? Why can't we have the multi-function tool bar at the top of the window and one for filtering emails with the list of emails? Will the column filters in Excel be moving to the top of screen as well???
I understand that people are resistant to change and that gets in the way of innovation, but jamming things like this down your customers' throats only creates anger and resentment. I personally find your approach insulting and infuriating.
