Microsoftwroot - First off you are right, not all of these features are brand new. We knew that many people missed hearing about some of the newer options like more time zones, which is why, in part, we published this blog post!
The issue you bring up about conference room location field is something we are investigating. We are considering updating integration between Resources and Location to make it more intuitive and simpler for Office 365 customers when editing an O365 calendar.
