The team has been hard at work and we have some great new updates coming in November that you might be interested in! This month, we will be releasing the next version of the OneDrive mobile apps (on both iOS and Android) with support for new Mobile Capture scenarios and intelligent meeting note sharing. The Word, Excel and PowerPoint mobile apps will ship the common sharing dialog as well. On the web, we are releasing the new Recent and the new Manage Access experiences. Finally, we’re making some updates to the Access Request Outlook Actionable Messages. All of these features will start arriving in your organization in November. We are also announcing deprecation plans for the OneDrive application on Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10) & El Capitan (10.11).

We are extending our scan functionality in the OneDrive mobile apps to make your experience even better! You can use the OneDrive apps to scan documents, whiteboards, images from the field, a site visit and more! With the new Mobile Capture feature, you can now add custom metadata to anything you scan with the app. Simply start the scan from the Library you want to add it to, and after capturing the scan, the metadata fields will appear for you to edit in the app. The image and metadata will both be added to the library you’ve selected! This feature will begin rolling out on both Android and iOS in November.

Meeting Note Sharing

OneDrive strives to make your work day easier with powerful intelligence features that save you time. When taking a scan of meeting notes, the OneDrive mobile apps will now prompt you to share the scan with the meeting invitees. This feature is made possible by the power of the Microsoft Graph which connects your files, scans, meetings and more together. This feature will be available on both Android and iOS in November.

We are beginning a rollout of the new Manage Access experience which aims to make it easy for users to see and control access to their files and folders. The new Manage Access makes it easier for users to add and remove individual users on links that work for Specific People as well as making it more clear what users are using what links. This experience will begin rolling out in November should complete rollout in December.

Earlier this year, we shipped support for Outlook Actionable Messages in Access Request mails which allows users to manage access requests with a single click from their e-mail client. In November, we will ship two updates to the Access Request Actionable Message. First, we will now update the message card when it opens & tell the user if the access request has already been accepted or declined by another user. Second, users will now be able to choose whether the recipient will receive edit permission (the current default) or view permission.

OneDrive support for Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10 and Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11 support is ending on February 1st, 2019
The OneDrive team is committed to bringing you the best, most secure experience possible across your devices. To support that commitment, we must focus our resources on new technologies and operating systems that our users are adopting and minimize our investments where that isn’t the case. As such, we are ending support for the OneDrive Desktop application (sync client) on Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10 and Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11 effective February 1st, 2019.
Note: Both Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10 and Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11 are out of Apple’s mainline support since August 2017 and August 2018 respectively.
How users will be impacted on February 1st, 2019:
Existing OneDrive sync client installations on unsupported operating systems will stop updating. These clients will continue to run, but their functionality will no longer be tested. It is not advised to continue to run on these unsupported operating systems.
New installations on unsupported operating systems will be blocked.
Bugs and issues found on or specific to unsupported operating systems will no longer be investigated or fixed.
To ensure a smooth transition we recommend that you upgrade machines to Mac OS X 10.12 or above before February 1st, 2019. For the best user experience and longest support lifecycle, we recommend upgrading to macOS Mojave 10.14.
I have an old mac running 10.11.6 - El Captain and need to synch my files with one drive. Can you please point me to the link where I can find the sych app for the old macs - I understand it is not supported any longer but need help to synch my documents /photos from the old machine to one drive.
Unfortunately we no longer support OneDrive on El Capitain as the sync client literally doesn't work on that particular version of the OS anymore (as described above). Thanks!

I've another question for you. I've tried to launch the official Onedrive for mac but it says it's not possible to run in older o.s.
Could you bypass the limit and try to enable the latest release, even if with less functions?
my nees is only to manage the repository of my company. It's an enteprise account and I'm often out of office!
I chatted with a few other folks on the team and the short version is that we are ending support for OS X versions that are no longer being updated by Apple. We do this as we have historically seen that unsupported versions have APIs & libraries that fall out of date and thus end up breaking and causing other issues.
That being said, we don't prevent you from using OneDrive on those devices and it should continue to work until the system eventually hits one of these issues. Thanks!
I have no expectations at all to seeing this resolved but I shall take the opportunity to rant a little. I'm in the exact same position. I've been using my computer for years and it still does what I need to do (except this) so I won't be updating it until I really have to just to get something which many other companies offer (without the hassles) and I'm not the only one who feels this way.
Dear you all. I've read this 3d I'm facing an issue, I'm a corporate office 365 user but my laptop is a 10.11 Mac Osx, it's under the policy of the company (rent, upgrade locked and other security level policies) . then I cannot upgrade to 10.12.
Could you provide almost one older version before the End of the support?
otherwise I cannot use any kind of cloud tool on my macbook pro.
Hi The_Guru - thank you for the feedback on the Scanning feature in general, and the 'Meeting Sharing' feature in specific. We are glad to see that you've found scanning and editing document is OneDrive useful. Based on feedback such as yours, we are working on some changes on the 'Meeting Sharing' aspect. As of right now, it cannot be turned off but improvements are coming and they should help with what you are sharing. Thank you for being a user and please keep the feedback coming!
I was told about the new capture capability in Onedrive and was excited to use it instead of Lens. I found the capture and cropping faster than Lens.
BUT.... I found that when capturing a picture (which for me was just receipts to keep for my expense report) it name it with my last meeting request. So where lens used to just call it a date/time stamps with office lens at the end as a picture, Onedrive annoying names it "name of last meeting" and then time/date stamp. Even when I correct every picture to chop it out, it then asks me if I should share it with everyone from the last meeting.
As you know, people send calendar requests when they are off, so consequently 24x7 I am chopping crap out of the file name on EVERY use. Is there a way to TURN THIS CALENDAR THING OFF?!?!
I have never taken a picture in a meeting and wanted to save it and share it with the meeting. I can see where that would be useful, but if the camer is only designed for pictures in meetings, that's fine. You hit a homerun. So far, I went back to Lens.
We identified an issue with the new manage access pane and removed the experience while we make the fix. We are aiming to have it available again soon. Thanks!

We are extending our scan functionality in the OneDrive mobile apps to make your experience even better! You can use the OneDrive apps to scan documents, whiteboards, images from the field, a site visit and more! With the new Mobile Capture feature, you can now add custom metadata to anything you scan with the app. Simply start the scan from the Library you want to add it to, and after capturing the scan, the metadata fields will appear for you to edit in the app. The image and metadata will both be added to the library you’ve selected! This feature will begin rolling out on both Android and iOS in November.

Earlier this year, we shipped support for Outlook Actionable Messages in Access Request mails which allows users to manage access requests with a single click from their e-mail client. In November, we will ship two updates to the Access Request Actionable Message. First, we will now update the message card when it opens & tell the user if the access request has already been accepted or declined by another user. Second, users will now be able to choose whether the recipient will receive edit permission (the current default) or view permission.

To support that commitment, we must focus our resources on new technologies and operating systems that our users are adopting and minimize our investments where that isn’t the case. As such, we are ending support for the OneDrive Desktop application (sync client) on Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10 and Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11 effective February 1st, 2019.

Note: Both Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10 and Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11 are out of Apple’s mainline support since August 2017 and August 2018 respectively.

How users will be impacted on February 1st, 2019:

Existing OneDrive sync client installations on unsupported operating systems will stop updating. These clients will continue to run, but their functionality will no longer be tested. It is not advised to continue to run on these unsupported operating systems.

New installations on unsupported operating systems will be blocked.
\n
Bugs and issues found on or specific to unsupported operating systems will no longer be investigated or fixed.

To ensure a smooth transition we recommend that you upgrade machines to Mac OS X 10.12 or above before February 1st, 2019. For the best user experience and longest support lifecycle, we recommend upgrading to macOS Mojave 10.14.

New Mobile Capture scenarios for OneDrive on iOS and Android

We are extending our scan functionality in the OneDrive mobile apps to make your experience even better! You can use the OneDrive apps to scan documents, whiteboards, images from the field, a site visit and more! With the new Mobile Capture feature, you can now add custom metadata to anything you scan with the app. Simply start the scan from the Library you want to add it to, and after capturing the scan, the metadata fields will appear for you to edit in the app. The image and metadata will both be added to the library you’ve selected! This feature will begin rolling out on both Android and iOS in November.

I have an old mac running 10.11.6 - El Captain and need to synch my files with one drive. Can you please point me to the link where I can find the sych app for the old macs - I understand it is not supported any longer but need help to synch my documents /photos from the old machine to one drive.

Unfortunately we no longer support OneDrive on El Capitain as the sync client literally doesn't work on that particular version of the OS anymore (as described above). Thanks!

Could you bypass the limit and try to enable the latest release, even if with less functions?

I chatted with a few other folks on the team and the short version is that we are ending support for OS X versions that are no longer being updated by Apple. We do this as we have historically seen that unsupported versions have APIs & libraries that fall out of date and thus end up breaking and causing other issues.

That being said, we don't prevent you from using OneDrive on those devices and it should continue to work until the system eventually hits one of these issues. Thanks!

I have no expectations at all to seeing this resolved but I shall take the opportunity to rant a little. I'm in the exact same position. I've been using my computer for years and it still does what I need to do (except this) so I won't be updating it until I really have to just to get something which many other companies offer (without the hassles) and I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Dear you all. I've read this 3d I'm facing an issue, I'm a corporate office 365 user but my laptop is a 10.11 Mac Osx, it's under the policy of the company (rent, upgrade locked and other security level policies) . then I cannot upgrade to 10.12.
Could you provide almost one older version before the End of the support?
otherwise I cannot use any kind of cloud tool on my macbook pro.

We are glad to see that you've found scanning and editing document is OneDrive useful. Based on feedback such as yours, we are working on some changes on the 'Meeting Sharing' aspect. I was told about the new capture capability in Onedrive and was excited to use it instead of Lens. I found the capture and cropping faster than Lens.

BUT.... I found that when capturing a picture (which for me was just receipts to keep for my expense report) it name it with my last meeting request. So where lens used to just call it a date/time stamps with office lens at the end as a picture, Onedrive annoying names it \"name of last meeting\" and then time/date stamp. Even when I correct every picture to chop it out, it then asks me if I should share it with everyone from the last meeting.

As you know, people send calendar requests when they are off, so consequently 24x7 I am chopping crap out of the file name on EVERY use. Is there a way to TURN THIS CALENDAR THING OFF?!?!

I have never taken a picture in a meeting and wanted to save it and share it with the meeting. I can see where that would be useful, but if the camer is only designed for pictures in meetings, that's fine. You hit a homerun. So far, I went back to Lens.
