Planning for events can be tedious, so you fire up the computer and begin searching for caterers, party supplies, etc. By now you have already searched dozens of websites clustered on multiple tabs within your browser. Therefore, you have a difficult time finding which tab that lovely dress for the gala event. Perhaps you are a student preparing for upcoming final exams. You need to search the web for verifiable technical papers, books, videos, etc. You may need to even collaborate with your teammates for a project. How do you share the same resources and links. No matter the task, you need the right tools and resources. More importantly, you probably need help with managing tabs in your browser. Enabling Vertical Tabs

Once enabled you can pin and expand pages as well as organize tabs. Before we turn on vertical tabs let’s explore all the capabilities at your disposal.  

 

  • Search Open & Closed Tabs: Take advantage of searching your tab history for both open and closed tabs.

  • Open Recently Closed Tabs: Accidently close a tab, you can open recently closed tabs

Turn On Vertical Tabs 

 

 

  1. In the Microsoft Edge Browser, navigate to the right-hand corner. 
  2. Locate the Tab Icon, then select “Turn on vertical tabs.” 

 

Now that Vertical tabs are on you will see a bar appear on the left side of the menu. The bar can expand and contract by hovering over it. You can also pin the pane if you want it to stay open. Vertical tabs is a great way to get a fresh look but also can be less distracting. Now let’s start organizing those unruly tabs by grouping them. 

 

Creating your First Tab Group 

 

Alright, it is time to get organized. That’s right, those tabs aren’t going to mend themselves. So, let’s roll up our sleeves and get to organizing. All jokes aside, the only thing that will get a workout is your fingers.

 

 

 

 

 

Creating Your Own Group Tabs 

 

  1. Right click on any tab and select “Add to new group.” 
  2. In the top bar type the name for the group of tabs. 
  3. You can select a color to distinguish groups from each other. 

 

 

Note how you can also add the group to a new window. You also can add the group to a new collection. This is perfect if you need certain pages to finish a project. Which means you don’t need to keep your tabs open. You can save them for later and spare your computer processing and lower consumption.
