We are excited to share with you the November edition of “What’s new in Microsoft Teams” . This month we announce new broadcast capabilities enhanced live captions, as well as some of the newly certi...
I have a proposal for you, perhaps too wild but still...
Please, don't announce any new features to Teams during December/January. Instead of those, keep focus current state and fix already existing but broken features. I'm sure that nobody thinks you are not doing your work if there are no updates during these months. Here I have few basic examples you should fix from already existing features:
1. ngath lifted one big pain on Teams. Can you really call it as a search, perhaps "teaser" could be better? The current search is smart enough to find the message I'm looking for, then [Go To Message] in real life should go to the message on the chat history tree so we could see earlier and following chats as well. Or do you see this in differently?
2. Still waiting the Full screen mode so that we can see the shared application in full screen mode, without avatars/videos. Isn't better to focusing to the shared content instead of videos?
3. Ask from Skype for Business team how they made possible to share multiple applications at the same time. Not all users are allowed to share desktop, so they should be able to share applications. Try to share three applications and jump between them on the meeting. And see how Skype for Business does that 😄
4. Breakout rooms, when you give users a control about the timeout "warning" appears? And is it really so, that there is 24 hours timebomb on them? If you create rooms beforehand those are gone in 24 hours?
5. Fix Teams client and remove the clearing cache as primary troubleshooting option. I know your teams are enough clever to solve "dirty cache" issue, and when the cache should be refreshed. Currently companies are building logon scripts, extra tools, etc.. to fix issue which you should fix. Adding a button for [Clear Cache] would be the worst solution I could think.
6. You already enabled the "pop up" chat to P2P chats, but why did you stop working with that? When we could popup the meeting chats as well?
7. You still have the design error: Open image from the meeting chat. Now the [Close] button is on the same location on the screen with [Leave] button. If your computer does not respond right away, you could press that button twice, but actually the last one will go to [Leave] button and you are dropping out of the meeting.
8. Don't hide the facts: At the moment it looks that, when Teams client drops out from the meeting, but is then able to rejoin back into the without user's interaction. From the TAC we cannot see that user has been drop out from the meeting. We are in a bit bad position to response to an upset end user: sorry, but from Teams Admin center I can see that you have not drop out from the meeting. May I ask you to fix Teams so, that these are two calls can ben seen on admin interfaces. Like you are hiding that today, we are fully blind for the quality issues on end user site.
9. Don't hid the facts #2: The Teams admin center categories the meeting calls as "good" as long as the audio has been working fine. If there has been an issues on the video streams only, that have no impact to the quality level on TAC. That is still on good level.
10. On the Chrome I'm able to select where the download files are stored. Because Teams is based on Chromium, it should be doable to have an option to let users to define where to save the downloaded files from chat or teams. This has been standard feature in browsers (and other apps) since 1997.
11. And of course the four fingers pray continues its glory. Currently on version 1.4.00.31569 the keyboard combination: | Shift + Ctrl + Alt + 1 | brings this to my screen:
(those who do not know, that is a way to collect logs from clients) I believe that could be done in a smarter way as well. Last time the problem was mathematical, how to count how many files was downloaded. Now this.
12. On the together mode we are still waiting a way to see the participant names on the videos. If you have 27 participants, whom you have not met earlier, how do you expect to speak to them with names?
13. Centralized way to collect logs from users. We can do this already for Room System. It should be not too hard to get that into desktop client as well.
14. When Teams client will be renamed to something else? 😉
