neverfree - I understand the confusion. I can't say that I can provide a definition for "in Preview" directly other than to say that the Linux client provides the core components and experience, but may not have the full set of features that the Windows and macOS versions do. It's not Alpha or Beta. Much closer to GA, but still being actively developed (albeit by a small team). I cannot answer all your questions as I am not part of the product group, just a Linux user who wanted Teams accessible on Linux for myself and everyone else that uses Linux so I pushed for it until it finally got released. I hope all the features expand to the Linux client, too, but I cannot confirm if that will happen. Only that the team working on it is doing their best (because people internally want these features, too, and keep asking for them).
phrxmd tier1banter - I appreciate your enthusiasm for updates. There is a closed preview to test newer builds of the client (enrollment has to be done at a corporate level, not an individual level). That has been in testing for a couple of weeks now so I would expect an updated release to public preview soon, I just have no clue when that will be (again, not part of the product group directly). You can see the build released here on 5/27 (https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/ms-teams/pool/main/t/teams-insiders/). You are free to install it, but you won't be able to log in unless your account is enabled for "insiders", which again requires corporate enrollment. I'm only passing the link so you can check for yourself that development is still being done to improve the application and add all those features you want/need. 🙂
I do see all the posts on this thread and cannot always comment directly on each one. I know there are some hiccups with the way this application works sometimes and appreciate seeing the feedback. This thread may not be monitored by anyone on the product group (I really do not know) and is not a support channel for the Teams Linux client. If you have issues, open a support ticket as part of your corporate account with Microsoft. This will help the team see/triage/fix those issues much more quickly. If you are an individual or part of a business that doesn't have a way to easily create tickets, use this site: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/topics/teams-linux.html While this should also not be considered a direct support channel, you can interact with others who may have (or may have solved) similar issues. Additionally, I do know that this site is monitored by the product group and they will respond and interact.
