Well, Ed Hansberry, therein lies the conundrum. Box, Dropbox, Google Drive and ShareFile are explicitly called out in the Microsoft Teams admin settings, but this list has nothing to do with the Microsoft Cloud Storage Partner Program (CSP) that I can see.
Indeed, Box and Dropbox are CSP members, so I would logically expect to have the ability to view and edit files stored in these repositories using Office Online. But this I cannot do.
And it becomes even more of a mess when you consider the Microsoft Teams mobile app, as you don't see any cloud storage services other than OneDrive. This is bizarre, because if I look at the Word app on my iPhone I see the following cloud services:
- OneDrive
- OneDrive for Business
- Dropbox
- Edmodo
- Egnyte
- HKT Cloud Storage
- kiteworks
- LEAP
- Learnium
- MyWorkDrive
- NetDocuments
- OpenText Core
- RushFiles
- ShareFile
- Syncplicity
- Tencent micro cloud
- workplace_
- SharePoint
All of this makes for a confusing and frustrating experience for the end user. And if you're an enterprise IT manager, this haphazard approach to product development will undoubtedly leave you feeling uneasy.
