Apologies if this has been answered, but I wanted to clarify a point regarding limiting Town Halls to specific People and Groups.
"@Jashan7, yes, you can have the same experience as TLE, where you can select people/groups."
We use TLE for company-wide live events, including participation from external companies (non-Org domains). In TLE, the People and Groups are Permissions based , allowing us to add security groups and/or Mail enabled groups to this section and share the join link accordingly. External organizations can join the events, with proper permissions ensuring only the designated groups can access the TLE link, even if it is inadvertently shared.
However, Teams Town Hall appears to function differently. It is invitation-based:
- You cannot use security groups. Only Mail enabled groups
- The People and Groups states: "Only invited people and groups within your organization can watch the event."
- When using People and groups an invitation is sent to all the users and instead of using the Share link? (Is there a way to not use Invites for Town Halls?)
This means our external domains cannot added to or join the Town Hall without making it public, thereby allowing anyone with the link to access it.
From our testing, this seems to be the case. Is our understanding correct?
Would we need to leverage external users using 'people and groups' through cross-tenant configuration in Azure ?
Thank you for your time and any insights you can provide on this matter.
