Hi Microsoft,
I just wanted to let you know that I agree with every single comment on this list, rather than give myself a new RSI by clicking the thumbs-up icon on every - single - comment.
Was it Windows 8 that had the built-in Skype app that was flawed in so many ways that you had to then also install the Skype desktop app, and then when somebody tried to call you, both apps would ring at the same time, and when you answered the call on one of them the other one would keep ringing AND hide so that you couldn't find it to stop it ringing? Ahhh, memories. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
I know why this Teams problem exists. It's because the Microsoft account problem exists. What's the Microsoft Account problem? allow me to explain...
Everyone at my work has a Microsoft for work or school account.
Including me, the IT Guy.
And when I want to go online at the Microsoft Store to buy a new keyboard for a work Surface tablet, I can log into the Microsoft Store with my work or school Microsoft account, right?
Wrong.
I need to go online and create a random free personal Microsoft account and then use THAT to conduct the purchase of the item for the business.
Don't believe me? Here's actual text from the email with the quote from "Microsoft Business and Education" with my comments in the square brackets;
Credit Card:
- Requires a personal Microsoft account [Why? Why can't I use my work/school Microsoft account to buy an item for work/school?]
- Customer must add their Credit card info on your Microsoft Account [Again, why? Why are you instructing me to add corporate credit card details to a 'personal Microsoft account']
- Add shipping and contact details by selecting Payment & Billing > Address book > Add a new Address. [And again, why? Why are you instructing me to add work/school shipping and contact details to a 'personal Microsoft account?]
- Customer will be charged for the original price of the items based on current online pricing, then once order has been shipped, partial refund will be processed to match the pricing on the quote [And what in the world is that bizzare process about - issuing 2 different receipts to the 'personal Microsoft account' for the work/school purchase]
We're all just so used to this that nobody screams out loud anymore about how utterly ridiculous it is. If Elon Musk did any of this rubbish at Twitter every journalist would be up in arms about it.
