I'm not sure what kind of a prioritization scheme you are using, but I don't understand why the team is not working on the most impactful stuff about the usability. Currently the usability is almost non-existent if you are living in a mid/large enterprise. It looks like there is no UX team in Microsoft, who has thought about what would be the ideal design for Chat and Teams Channels. Can you imagine you need to keep up with hundreds of Teams Channels and Chat messages in an Enterprise? How exactly do you expect a user can follow the piled up messaging sequence.
The answer is simple:
There is no grouping capability, except the "pinning" functionality which is limited to like 15 chats. What if I would like to group my chats like:
- Operational Chats
- Executive Chats
- Team Member Chats
- Sales Chats
- ...
We also need to group Teams Channels as well. I've 200+ Teams channels in my list and it is a complete nightmare. It is impossible to follow anything beyond 2-3 channels as they are covering the entire screen anyway. The rest 197 is not seen unless somebody specifically mentions my name. The grouping is again needed here:
- R&D Channels
- Operational Channels
- Project Channels
- Organizational Transformation Channels
- ...
I will not go into the UX specifics but grouping should also not be limited to the left pane in an hierarchical way. There can be a UI covering the main pane, providing a general outlook of activities in my chats and channels, where I can easily create new groups and drag & drop my channels/chats to those.
