I also don't get it why leaving a message in a channel now has to feel like writing an email (a form, subject, click post to send). I am guessing it was made to please users who want to use Teams as email. Popping up channel conversation is ok, but it never crossed my mind i needed it. I use it sometimes in chat as it is of a more rapid type of communication. But in channels we usually have just one chat happening at a time. Also, it seems that popup option was added because of how poorly Teams deals with screen refresh when new messages come into a conversation you are currently looking at. It is still annoying, when Teams window is not in focus, but it thinks new messages have been seen and loses new message badge counter in the taskbar. And when you go back and read new messages you have to click to another channel and back to get rid of bolded channel name. I have a habit now after typing a reply to a message in channel to go to another channel, so i can get proper notifications and GUI reaction. THIS is the biggest hurdle for me for effective communication. Also, new Teams version sometimes still insists on showing toast popups about new messages even if i have disabled all banners in settings and don't want to see a single one. New Teams also a few times in a few weeks lost setting on which channels should be hidden and i had to go and again manually hid some channels. It also for some reason often switches view to Chat tab although i have specifically went to a team and clicked on a channel. But when i go back to Teams window some time later, it now sits in Chat tab again. There could be some indication that you have unread content in Teams/channels when you are in Chat tab, like a star or something. Now i have to go back to Teams tab just to see if there is anything new. And there should be an option to make channels with new content to move to the top. Tired of scrolling up and down. Another habit of mine is keep all teams collapsed so they fit to the screen and i can see which is bolded and has new content. Annoying. And finally, give us an option to hid/mute General channels. I join some teams for a one particular channel, but have to deal with a trash can for everything else that General channels often are used for.
