LvilleCloudJockey I'm not understanding your question. Microsoft Purview Information Protection does include DLP. It was split up to have the trainings be more focused. AIP is a part of the information protection ecosystem. What capability are you specifically looking to have? 

AIP extends the labeling and classification functionality provided by Microsoft Purview with the following capabilities:

The unified labeling client
An on-premises scanner
The SDK
AIP also provides the encryption service, Azure Rights Management, that's used by Microsoft Purview Information Protection.
