Updated 10/13/2023: We have resolved this issue of unresponsive apps, and a fix for this issue has been released with the 2310 update (5.0.6017.0) available on the Google Play Store - Intune Company Portal. If you're impacted by this, please update to the latest version to resolve.

We recently identified an issue for apps protected by App Protection Policies (also known as MAM - Mobile Application Management) on Samsung SM-G990E devices that are running the latest Operating System (OS), specifically G990EXXU7EWH7 and G990EXXS7EWI3. When users attempt to open apps on these devices, they may notice the app isn’t responding.

We have resolved this issue of unresponsive apps, and a fix has been released with the 2310 update (5.0.6017.0) available on the Google Play Store - Intune Company Portal. If you're impacted by this, please update to the latest version.

Users on these devices should update to the latest Company Portal release once available to resolve this issue. To identify which user's devices’ may be affected, navigate to the Microsoft Intune admin center > Apps > Monitor > App protection status and search by the device model. If you’d like to require this update, you can use the Intune app protection policy (APP, also known as MAM) Min Company Portal version setting and specify the 2310 Intune Company Portal for Android version.

In the meantime, as a workaround, users can uninstall and re-install the Intune Company Portal. However, by uninstalling the Intune Company Portal users will need to sign-in to MAM protected apps again to regain access to their organization's resources.

    Intune_Support_Team thanks for your reply.

Did some test, problem did still exist on the same phone.

But it seems like the relation was gone that it is a App Protected App, it was handled like a unmanaged app.

Outlook is configured in App Protection configuration...

But after opening Google Play in the Work Profile, selected Edge, it seems to be a update was waiting.

I don't know why it did not a auto-update because is a Required App, but started the updated manually (Now Edge with AI).

After the update was installed, opened the app again, now it's working fine again...

  • Hi MZONDERLAND, we checked with the team and this issue is a different issue than what'd descibed in this post. If you continue facing an issue where your Samsung Galaxy S20 devices are not working as expected, please open a support request via the Microsoft Intune admin center's "Help and support" blade or any of the other methods here: aka.ms/IntuneSupport, as this will help provide our team with the necessary information to resolve the issue. Once created, please send us a message with your support case number for further follow-up. Thanks!

Uninstalling comp portal in work profile doesn't work. I tried it and it doesn't let the app be uninstalled (do not see the app as a device admin app too). I am though certain that deleting comp portal from work profile (if possible) would mean the device will have to be re-enrolled.

There are 53 devices in our tenent that meet the criteria mentioned in the article and this workaround doesn' work as easily as it is said. Also, there is no ETA on when the latest version is about to be released.

Please provide the right information for orgs to action.

Since yesterday I cannot open Microsoft Edge in Work Profile on Android device (Corporate Owned with Work Profile), starting the app and after a second it will close automatically without an error. At this moment only this app, but it is configured as MAM Protected App, maybe relation with this issue?

    Device : Samsung Galaxy S20 (SM-G980F/DS)

In Intune we also see there's a name change for Edge, it's now something like : Microsoft Edge: with AI

    Maybe also related?
