  • Are beta exams planned? If so, what's the ETA for their launch?

    Thank you!

        Hi Vitaly

Nothing that I have heard of yet. Please check in with Sarah Kong for any beta exam options and or credential questions.

        Thank you!

  • Thanks Mindy_Rosenthal, this is a very interesting training area for which there is a lot of demand already!

Can you clarify the relationship between these Microsoft-managed GitHub certifications and the existing certifications from GitHub itself, i.e. https://resources.github.com/learn/certifications/?

As you know the latter have 5 different options whereas the former have 3, with the shared ones having the same certification name.

Is it more of a repackaging exercise, to introduce a 2nd channel to earn the same GitHub certifications? Or is the Microsoft channel intended to be a replacement?

Would the certifications have the same or different content for the same certification title? Are GitHub cert owners going to be automatically granted the matching Microsoft certification?

      Hi Vitaly

Apologies on the delay of my response for this! Quite a bit of comments this month. 🙂

Yes, the certifications will be the same that are currently available on GitHub but will be available soon on the MS Learn platform -- More GitHub courses/certifications are to come in the future as well. (Which are the other certifications you see) The ILT trainer materials will be net new but will be from the same curriculum as the courses currently available on GitHub.

As per certifications being granted on MS Learn and still available on GitHub also, let me check on that.

      Thank you!

  • Hi Mindy, can you clarify what 'certification will be released in Q4'? Does this mean the certification will be available for trainers? Or certification will be available for learners (aren't they already available for learners?)

      Hi LizT1905

Currently the GitHub certifications are not integrated into our MS Learn platform. The GitHub team is still working through the logistics, but the ILT content will be ready by 4/18, and we want to make it available for delivery.

Once that team has a line of sight for the GitHub certifications on MS Learn, other information will be shared regarding availability for trainers and learners. This could very well be earlier than May, but through this blog we share ILT related communication, but I wanted to call out the certification piece for support. 🙂 Please reach out to your program manager for additional questions on future certification availability.

      Thank you!

Hi. To be sure we understand:

        • Will the MS Learn platform be the target for all GitHub trainings, not only for the self-learning modules but also for the Certifications?
        • As Vitaly questioned, is it a merge of both offers into one on the MS platform?
        • What are the impacts for already GitHub certified people?
        • For GH Administration and GH Action, what's the plan for the courses? For the certification transfer if any?
        • Will the renew process of GH certification be the same than for MS ones? GH certifications must be renewed every 3 years
  • When and where will the materials for trainers be available?

The trainer materials are still being developed, so I cannot provide an ETA at the moment. We hope to publish them prior to the ILT release date.

Trainer materials will be available as they are today. Please go to Category: MCT Lounge | Microsoft Community Hub for any further questions on trainer materials. Thank you

  • Just to clarify, by "This certification will be released in Q4 of this fiscal year" are you referring to Microsoft's fiscal year? I.e. April-June 2025?

      Hi danielw64

Thank you for asking! Microsoft's fiscal. I just updated this post to reflect that-- (This certification will be released by May 2025) Apologies on the confusion.
