To reflect the evolution of our Fundamentals course structure, we’re updating the course title of AZ-900 to Introduction to Cloud Infrastructure, effective October 31.

Originally titled Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, and more recently Introduction to Microsoft Azure, this course has gradually narrowed its focus. As dedicated Fundamentals courses for AI, Data, and Security emerged, AZ-900 shifted toward a streamlined, one-day introduction to Azure’s core infrastructure services.

The new title brings:

  • Clearer expectations for learners
  • Consistency with other “Intro to…” courses

This change will help ensure learners understand what the course offers and how it fits into their broader Azure learning journey. Expect to see this listed as a major update to AZ-900 on the next iteration of the title plan.

    Thanks Ashlee,
One reflection: it’s often clearer for customers when course titles include the specific technology or tool the course is about. More generic names — like “Designing and Implementing Platform Engineering” or “Work smarter with AI” — can create confusion, especially since many TSPs also provide training outside the Microsoft ecosystem. Including terms like Azure, Microsoft 365, or Copilot in the title makes it easier for learners to understand what the course actually covers.
