Editor’s note 3.11.2025: Microsoft has released all Windows updates necessary to address these changes. We have updated the table below and published a new post: Paraguay-2025-time-zone-update-now-available
On October 14, 2024, the Paraguay government made an official announcement that Paraguay will permanently stay in Daylight Saving Time (DST) or UTC-3.
The impact of this change is as follows:
- Clocks will not advance by 60 minutes at 12:00 AM on March 23, 2025, for the Paraguay time zone.
- Paraguay will permanently stay at UTC-3 and will be referred to as Paraguay Time (PYT) all year.
Microsoft plans to release an update to support this change. However, we require sufficient time to properly build, test, and release such an update for all platforms before the change goes into effect. See How Windows manages time zone changes to better understand the complexities of this process.
The following platforms will receive an update to support this time zone change as part of the February 2025 non-security update:
- Windows 11, version 24H2
- Windows 11, version 23H2
- Windows 11, version 22H2
- Windows 10, version 22H2
Remaining versions of Windows will receive the update as part of the March 2025 monthly quality update.
