In June 2021, we announced that Microsoft Machine Learning Server & Microsoft R Open will be retired on July 1, 2022. In continuation with the retirement process, the Microsoft R Application Network (MRAN) website and CRAN Time Machine will be retired on July 1, 2023.

How does this change affect me?

  • After January 31, 2023, we will no longer maintain the CRAN Time Machine snapshots. Existing snapshots will be available until June 30, 2023.
  • Microsoft R Application Network website and CRAN Time Machine will be shut down on July 1, 2023.
  • The website https://rpackages.microsoft.com will also be shut down on July 1, 2023.
  • For R users, the “checkpoint” package will only serve CRAN snapshots up to January 31, 2023 and will cease to function entirely after June 30, 2023.  R scripts using a CRAN repository located at https://cran.microsoft.com will return an error after July 1, 2023.
  • Microsoft will no longer provide customer support services for the Microsoft R Application Network and CRAN Time Machine after June 30, 2023.

Recommended Action:

You should plan to migrate from the use of Microsoft R Application Network website and CRAN Time Machine to avoid any interruptions. The CRAN Time Machine functionality can be replaced by using the miniCRAN R package as documented. The use of “Explore Packages” functionality from MRAN can be replaced by CRAN Task Views.

Its really sad to see it go.  It look like the shut down the site back in early June 2023.  I have be trying to get access to the last snapshot for a while. uc-msft I tried to reach out to you at your guys email without a response to get 8 packages that are known to be a big buggy in later versions.
Should I open a support ticket or new thread with the community?

Please, I am looking to download Microsoft R Open 4.0.2 or higher version. Where this has been discontinued, please assist with the replaced or subsisting version' link for download.
