Good article, w good idea & good walk-thru.

 

One quick addition I would note- As you mention, "The compressed files will not obey the retention configured for Audit..." A good possibility for managing retention times on the compressed files in blob storage, is to establish an "Azure Storage Lifecycle Management" policy for that storage account. This can automatically handle purging, moving to Archive tier, etc., without need for further administrator manual or scripted actions.
