Hello, I'm facing two issues. Not sure if the second one is causing the first one: My Search bar at the bottom of the screen is greyed out (I cannot type there) and the same happens when I open the Start menu (with Ctrl-Esc). Typing doesn't allow me to search for apps/settings/documents but simply highlights menu icons that are already shown in the Start Menu (so pressing 'e' highlights the Edge icon, etc) My cumulative Windows Insider 11 Update (Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Insider Preview (10.0.26120.4250) (KB5060820)) is failing upon restart with the 'Something didn't go as planned' message. The error code for the update is: 0x80070005 I tried reindexing and resetting the Windows Search service for 1) and retried the update for 2). No luck What would you suggest as a next step in troubleshooting?241Views0likes2CommentsRemoval of temporary mitigation in Windows updates for printing and scanning devices
A quick reminder that as of August 9, 2022, the security Windows updates removes all temporary mitigation released to all Windows updates between July 27, 2021 and July 26, 2022 for smart card authenticating printers, scanners, and multifunction devices that don’t support either: Diffie-Hellman (DH) for key exchange during PKINIT Kerberos authentication, Or, don’t advertise support for des-ede3-cbc ("triple DES”) during the Kerberos AS request Without this mitigation, smart card authentication (PIV) might fail on non-compliant devices and cause print and scan failures. Firmware on Smartcard-authenticating printers and scanners must be compatible with section 3.2.1 of the RFC 4556 specification required for CVE-2021-33764 prior to installing Windows updates released on August 9, 2022 or later on Active Directory domain controllers. Go to KB5005408: Smart card authentication might cause print and scan failures for more information.1.1KViews0likes0CommentsHi community, i am really stuck and i need your help please!
I have windows 7 ultimate 64 bits 2009, Intel(R) Core (TM) i3-3217U CPU, I'm facing a problem which is that many many many software don't work for me , they eaither require 8.1 windows update or NET Framwork 4.6 Update ( by the way i have 3.5 version). My search for updates doesn't work, when i try to update NET framwork it doesn't work either. So i downloaded windows 8.1 autonomous mode from Microsoft official website, it downloaded 7 files - windows 8.1 KB2919355 x64 - windows 8.1 KB2932046 x64 - windows 8.1 KB2934018 x64 - windows 8.1 KB2937592 x64 - windows 8.1 KB2938439 x64 - windows 8.1 KB2959977 x64 - clearcomperessionflag (.exe) when i run this application it says this app is not valide Win32 and when i try to run one of the windows 8.1 autonomous file it says error 0xc8000222 or that that these files require wusa.exe and this app it doesn't work for me. So please guys anyone has an idea how to solve this problem, i just need to update from windows 7 to windows 8.1, And what is required from me in order to update it? is windows 8.1 free or not ? in Device manager there are a 4 hardware that need drivers and in Windows update => Optional updates section, there are 7 drivers listed but I don't know which one I am supposed to install. there needs to be more information there to tell us exactly which one to install. there are even drivers listed there with the date 1970!
