Suggestion: add Progress Bar and Next/Prev options to the PiP (Picture in Picture) in Edge browser Here is a video of my side by side comparison of PiP in Edge Canary Version 83.0.461 and PiP in Windows 10 Movies & TV app which is the superior one. Also allow to control that progress bar in PiP. use the same small minimal style from the app on Windows 10 but on mouse hover, the progress bar needs to get bigger and come Up so user can control it and click on it. The development is going fast, Mac version and Beta version of the new Edge are already leaked to the public, so i think it's safe to assume that the stable and final version of the new Edge will be included in the Windows 10 20H1 and it will replace both the current Edge (spartan) and the Internet explorer. right?Solved5.6KViews6likes20CommentsMissing feature: Edge legacy VS new Edge | Address Bar style
on Edge legacy, the address bar highlight color is the same as Windows 10's accent color while on the new Edge it's a pale default white/blue color. Compare: Here is a video demo: https://streamable.com/ucs533 Edge legacy's Address bar was really beautiful because of this.. I really hope the new Edge gets the same style. sending the same post as feedback from Edge, if you like this please do the same.2.4KViews6likes6CommentsNew Feature in Edge Canary Version 84.0.492.0 - install sites as share target for the whole Windows
This newly added flag: Enable Share Targets Enables installed web apps to register for and receive Share requests from the Windows shell. Requires the Web App Identity Proxy functionality to be enabled as well. – Windows #edge-share-target which requires this flag to be enabled as well: Web Apps Identity Proxy Enables installed web apps to be created with modern Windows application identity for better integration with the Windows shell. – Windows #edge-webapp-identity-proxy the description of the flag is self explanatory but what it does is that when you install a social network website such as Twitter as an app in Edge, it will be added as a share target when you press Share button on Edge or anywhere on Windows 10. Twitter will be registered as a system-wide share target so any app or program in Windows 10 can share files to Twitter website. this was requested before and now implemented. thank you! this is an example of Share from Photos app and you see Twitter which is the website installed as app in Edge is a share target on the list. Keep in mind that this is the first implementation phase for this feature so it might have bugs or might not work for you at all.3.1KViews4likes6Comments[FIXED] Legacy Edge extensions on Windows store after installing the new Edge
Today I came across this extension when browsing Windows store https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9P59WXTBHZZM I could install it without any issue but the thing is it doesn't work when I have the Stable version of Chromium based Edge installed. clicking "launch" opens the new Edge only, nothing else happens. I think the proper way to handle this situation is to either hide these extensions from Windows store once the new Edge is installed, OR show a message to user that: "it's not compatible with the current installed version of Edge browser". My suggestion is to add the new Chromium based Add-ons to the Windows store to be easily available and installed by users. https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/Solved5KViews4likes8CommentsTutorial: How to run Legacy and Chromium-based Edge simultaneously side by side Without Group Policy
1. Uninstall Chromium Edge either from Control panel or from Windows 10 settings => Apps 2. Go to Registry Editor by typing "regedit" in Windows 10 search 3. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft OR paste this in the address bar area of Registry editor Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft 4. Right-click on "Microsoft" and create a new key And name it "EdgeUpdate" (without quotes) 5. Then right-click on "EdgeUpdate", go to New and create a new DWord 32-bit and call it "Allowsxs" (without quotes) Allowsxs 6. Set its value to 1 7. Exit Registry Editor 8. now go to www.microsoft.com/Edge to download Edge stable again. install it and after that you will be able to access both Legacy and new Edge from start menu or Windows 10 search. Source: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-update-policies#allowsxs This tutorial is for using only Registry editor, there is also another method to do this which is through Group Policy https://docs.microsoft.com/en-au/deployedge/microsoft-edge-sysupdate-access-old-edge#how-to-enable-a-side-by-side-experience-with-both-versions-of-microsoft-edge for that you also will need the policy files which you can get from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/business/download17KViews4likes9CommentsWhen is Webview 2 based on Edge (Chromium) going to be finalized and what's the current status?
This article https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/hosting/webview2 was updated 7 months ago. at that time it was tagged (developer preview) but now Edge stable is released, so does it mean Webview2 is also finalized? Also, Will Webview 2 lay the groundwork for Windows SETS? I've heard rumors that Microsoft has been waiting to finish Webview2 and then roll out Windows SETS to insiders.1.2KViews2likes0CommentsMicrosoft will NOT be pushing out the new Edge via Windows Update to everyone
So previously there was this post from this source saying Microsoft will be pushing out the new Edge via Windows Update to the majority of Windows 10 users, but the documentation on Microsoft's website has changed now, here are the newly added information: Update 01/09/2020 To help our customers become more secure and up-to-date, Microsoft will distribute Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) to Home and Pro Edition devices running Windows 10 version 1803 via Windows Update. This process will start after January 15th, 2020 and more information will be available on that date. The Blocker Toolkit is intended for organizations that would like to block automatic delivery of Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) on devices running Windows 10 version 1803 and newer that are running the Home or Pro Edition of Windows. All other versions and Editions of Windows are excluded from being updated automatically. Devices running Windows 10 Home or Pro Edition that are joined to an Active Directory or Azure Active Directory domain, are MDM managed, or are WSUS or WUfB managed, will also be excluded from this automatic update." No enterprise versions of Windows will be automatically updated, meaning the Blocker Toolkit is just needed if you run Home and Pro on your enterprise network, and if they are not joined to a Domain. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/DeployEdge/microsoft-edge-blocker-toolkit4.9KViews2likes6CommentsYou can now sync your favorites with Application Guard Window from Windows Defender
Microsoft Edge version 91.0.831.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) you need to enable this newly added flag: edge://flags/#edge-wdag-favorites-sync and then when you open a new application guard window, your favorites will be there. When installing a website, such as Instagram, as PWA in Edge dev (Version 88.0.685.3), the Instagram icon appears in the apps list of Start menu, at the top under "recently added" list (not pinned yet). when you drag & drop it on the Start menu to Pin it, it will have a small centered icon. but if you go to edge://apps/ and Pin Instagram's icon from there then Instagram's icon will be in normal big size in the Start menu Left side is big and normal, right side is very small pea-sized icon created by drag & drop. Instagram is one of the websites used as example, the same thing happens to Twitter, YouTube, Bing etc (tried all of them). see if you can reproduce it and send feedback through browser (preferably with "recreate my problem") Windows 10 20H2 latest version5.6KViews1like6Comments
