external data

Hi, I have Project Web App (PWA) 2019/Project Server 2019/SharePoint 2019 on premise installation. The Projects schedules are created through PWA. I have Risk list on PWA site collection. I want to capture risk for all projects in a single list. Our requirement is, the Project number drop down should be available on Quick edit/Datasheet view to enter multiple risks in a view. Project number is stored in PWA database as Enterprise custom field on project. I could add Project Number field to the list through external data (connecting to SQL server table). The field is populated in New and Edit form without any issue but In Quick edit/Datasheet view, the field is readonly and does not provide a drop down list. Power Apps is not an option for us. is there any other options, we could get Project numbers in a drop down list on Datasheet/Quick edit view? Thank you.509Views0likes0CommentsBusiness Connectivity Data Services in O365
Hello I was asked about the possibility of adding an Azure SQL table to a SharePoint Online site; I see tutorials saying its possible but I'm currently stuck on trying to trying the create in SharePoint Designer 2013 with the error message below. I have access to the admin and can get to the BCS service pages. I also added myself to the services permissions but no change. Is BCS and External Content types still available in SharePoint Online or have they been deprecated in some of the Content Type changes made recently? I saw this post with someone with the same error but they don't really mention if its gone or nothttps://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/sharepoint-developer/the-business-data-connectivity-metadata-store-is-currently/m-p/780648435Views0likes0CommentsHow to infer automatically table schema in Azure Data Explorer and more

Hello folks - I am trying to find out if this is a bug with the product, or an issue with my farm. So, I wanted to reach out to the community to get help on something tested. (SharePoint 2016) Please consider this scenario. I've this tested on both on-premise farms and results are same. Prerequisites: Make sure to have a BCS External Content Type to a SQL database of your choice Make sure to create an External List using this ECT to the said SQL database Steps: Browse to Site Columns on a site collection (Same site collection that external list is on) Createa new site column, select type Lookup -Give a good name that you can remember Select "Get information from: " drop downto the External List you've already created, and select a column Hit "OK" Questions: Do you get an error? If you browse back to Site Columns do you see the column actually created but type is listed as "External Data" ? Please let me know your findings here. Thanks! Ali3KViews0likes9Comments
