Hello Everyone! How are you? You've all gone through or will go through the experience of launching a Chromium-based browser at some point (especially Edge in this case) And see that when you reinstall your extensions through the automatic process (importing from your browser or your account) You're faced with THOUSANDS of extensions in your browser, with settings for extensions or welcome or anything like that! This isn't really a problem, but it can be really inconvenient sometimes when you're typing a text or looking for something and suddenly you're moved to a new tab or something. The question is: Why not just put a floating bubble under the extensions icon warning you that "Hey you have new extensions, click here and configure it!" This could be a great idea and would aid in a smoother and smoother experience that is less invasive and clearer! But let me know, what do you think of it?328Views0likes0CommentsDownload speed on Edge is too slow - Parallel downloading is broken
I've been testing and using this feature for as long as the new Edge has been around, without parallel downloading flag (edge://flags/#enable-parallel-downloading), the download speed is unbelievably slow, with the flag enabled, it's only slightly better. I don't know how many concurrent connections Edge makes to the download server with this flag on, but it's very broken. for example, download speed of a file in Edge is only 500 KB/s with parallel downloading on, with a download manager like Free Download Manager, the speed is 10x faster. I'm aware that this is depended on the network conditions of each user and my experience can't be universal and experienced by everyone, but the simply fact that a download manager with 6 to 8 concurrent (parallel) connections can fully utilize my Internet bandwidth, and Edge can't do this, is a problem. this is not something to be fixed with a simple browser reinstall or even related to OS. throughout the past 2 years I've done these countless times, literally. I'm sending feedback about it using the feedback button on Edge, if you're reading this and want download speed to be improved in Edge, please do the same and in the feedback URL add the link to this post for full description, thank you25KViews7likes10CommentsGitHub Copilot Update: New AI Model That Also Filters Out Security Vulnerabilities
GitHub Copilot has announced major updates to its AI model, resulting in significant improvements to the quality and responsiveness of code suggestions. The updated Codex model has led to a large-scale improvement in the quality of code suggestions and a reduction in the time it takes to serve those suggestions to users. In addition, the new vulnerability filtering system uses advanced AI models to detect insecure coding patterns in real-time, making suggestions more secure. These updates are available to all users of GitHub Copilot and are free to students with the GitHub Students Developer Pack.22KViews2likes0CommentsPersistent Poor Audio/Video Quality when Speaking on MS Teams meeting despite ample bandwidth
I participate in MS Teams meetings for my job, but I am not the administrator of the Teams account (nor do I work for the organisation that pays for and administers the Teams account). The default is for all participants to participate on video and audio, with occasional screen sharing.. Several times recently (including on fairly serious meetings, like Board meetings and job interviews) I've had others tell me that they couldn't hear me / my connection was bad. [ At that point, turning off video hasn't helped much if at all. ] As a work-around, I've had to dial in for audio (but that's a bit embarrassing during, say, a Board meeting). Sometimes I get a message from Teams telling me that my internet connection is poor (or words to that effect), but usually I hear complaints first from other participants, or I can see video problems myself. My broadband is the fastest service that Deutsche Telekom will sell me at my address. My router is a FritzBox!7590. I am not using a VPN during these calls. When I have run speed tests on my connection, the downlink has never been less than 200Mb/sec, and it's usually closer to 250. Uplink has never been less than 30Mb/sec, and it's usually 50Mb/sec. I've checked right after meetings, including meetings with problems, and have started doing random tests during similar hours. I have tried using my MacBook (a reasonably current model) and an iPad Pro (running nothing but Teams during the meeting), and the problem has occurred on both. All devices are running the current released operating systems. I have made a point of rebooting them before calls, but that hasn't made any difference. [ the router has also been rebooted several times recently, but not necessarily before every call ] During calls, I disable all other devices in my house (it's just me here, so I know no one else is streaming or gaming on my connection, but of course I don't know what may be happening elsewhere in my neighbourhood, and contention may be possible -- but again, my speed tests suggest my service remains more than adequate). I've so far had no similar problems with Zoom. In fact, before one important meeting, I got the organiser to do a test with me, but she choose to use Zoom (she thought we were testing my internet quality) and our test was fine -- but during the later Teams call, I had to drop off and rejoin by phone, which was extremely awkward. This "should" work, and it does for most of the participants (others occasionally have issues, but I have by far the most). It's almost like Deutsche Telekom throttles my connection when I start to speak -- I'm not paranoid enough to believe that, but that's how it appears. Because I am a regular attendee to these meetings, but am not part of the organisation that actually hosts the calls, they see it as "my" problem to solve. I could probably approach their administrator to ask for assistance, but if I do, I need to have a plan with a crisp set of requests of them. Does anyone have any suggestions or troubleshooting tips? I have not found anything in the forum that matches my situation closely enough to suggest a course of action.Solved20KViews2likes6Commentsthe New Microsoft Edge is not available in Dev build 21286
the new Chromium based Microsoft Edge browser is available by default in Windows 10 20H2, but in later version of Windows which is Dev channel Build 21286, Edge legacy is there instead. this doesn't make sense, I was expecting to see the new Microsoft Edge in Windows after a fresh install. So I just fresh installed Edge insider Canary to get its new logo and it's Version 80.0.323.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit). during uninstall, I chose to remove all user data. after reinstall, Edge insider Imported my reading list from Edge classic and that was expected, but one thing that was strange was that it actually Imported 1 of my extensions too! ublock origins. another thing, on my previous Edge insider Canary, I had downloaded and installed ublock origins extension from Google chrome store but now that I check on my new Edge insider installation, it's downloaded from Microsoft extension store. these were nice experiences. I personally liked that Edge automatically checks my extensions and downloads them from Microsoft extension store if there is a version of it available there.836Views0likes0CommentsWindows insider builds always uninstall Realtek High Definition Audio (HDA) driver software
