excel query odbc msquery Office 2010
1 TopicMS Query menu options greyed out after selecting ODBC connection
We are using MS Query on Windows 7, Office 2010 PCs to query an old Microsoft 2000 SQL server. I have an issue with MS Query that is causing problems for one end user for whom this has worked in past. She can launch MS Query itself OK (standalone or through Excel 2010) and select the correct (and tested as working OK) ODBC User DSN connection. I believe the ODBC connection works OK as she can refresh existing Excel worksheets using it fine. Additionally I was able to build a file DSN that queried a specific table on the SQL server using the ODBC connection OK as a test. Once the ODBC connection has been selected however MS Query greyes out all the menus (File ,Edit etc) and doesn't respond to any input, even being closed down. Nothing is displayed in the main screen below menus either. Ctrl+Alt+Del and End Task is needed to close the program. I've tried following: Checked user has permissions on SQl server Office Repair MS Query uninstall/reinstall Test existing ODBC connection Delete and recreate new ODBC connection and test None of these steps has resolved problem or changed the behaviour of MS Query and I was wondering if anyone else had any other ideas?
