2 TopicsMoving SQL Server 2017 from GDR Path to CU Path
Hello everyone, I have been scouring the internet and am not able to find the answer I need so I turn to you for assistance. Here is the situation, we have an AG set up on SQL Server 2017. Currently both of those servers are on patch 14.0.2052.1 or 5029375 Security update for SQL Server 2017 GDR: October 10, 2023. I would like to change us to be on at least CU 15 (yes I know CU 31 is the latest but the issue requiring this change is CU 15), but there is nothing I can find about how to change from the GDR Path to the CU Path. The only option I can see is to roll EVERYTHING back to the 2017 RTM, then apply CU 31. That isn't a great option as this is a 24/7 application. So, how in the world do you change from GDR to CU? Thanks in advance, Chap2.6KViews0likes2CommentsWindows Update vs Microsoft Update for SharePoint updates
Hi, with the July KB that was pushed to a local VM dev server I went to voice to see if there are something I can vote on to not push SP updates to SharePoint servers. Found one but one of the comments by Stefan Gobner: Microsoft does not ship SharePoint fixes through Windows Update - only through Microsoft Update. If you switched from Windows Update to Microsoft Update you asked to get security fixes also for other products but Windows - including Security fixes for SharePoint. And you cannot expect Microsoft not to ship Security fixes for SharePoint. So to avoid getting security fixes through Windows update just switch back to Windows Update from Microsoft Update. I did not know that there are a Windows update and a Microsoft update. How do i set a SP2016 server to not Download/Install SP2016 updates? https://sharepoint.uservoice.com/forums/330318-sharepoint-administration/suggestions/11668782-stop-pushing-sharepoint-updates-via-windows-update I still think it should not auto update. Not if you are expected to run PSConfig afterwords... Thanks4.6KViews0likes3Comments
