Love tab groups for staying organised when I use Edge, but I feel they would be more useful if they acted like containers in Firefox. Let them have their own cookies and add a context option to open link in a tab group or set a domain to always open in a tab group. Of course, this would require the browser to remember tab groups when closed. See;https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/containerise/(addon which allows you to set domain patterns to always open in specific containers) https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/temporary-containers/(addon which creates a temporary container that deletes when the last tab with that container is closed - it will delete history and cookies)1.3KViews1like0CommentsThe setting "Privacy, Search, and Services/Cookies and other site data/Do not clear" is broken
If you Add [*.]randomsite.com and select "Include third party cookies," the entry will not persist. The entry will only persist if you do not select "Include third party cookies" Also, you cannot Remove an entry [*.]otherrandomsite.com. TL;dr "Do not clear" is broken and buggy on the Mac and Windows Canary channel93.0.914.01.1KViews0likes0Comments[Resolved] Adding cookies to the Allow list makes them bypass the 3rd party cookie blocking !?
When I turn on 3rd party cookie blocking, and add [*.]youtube.com [*.]google.com to the allow list of cookies this causes Google and YouTube cookies to be read and accessed in Reddit and other sites,Even though 3rd party Cookie blocking is enabled. Edge (or Chromium in general, since it happens on Chrome 88 stable too) is confused. that Allow list is for allowing certain cookies to enter or stay in the browser, the Allow list is Not a 3rd party cookie bypass list. my actual setup and configuration was more complex but I had to do lots of testing to find out why Reddit still detects and asks me to sign into my Google account when 3rd party cookie blocking is enabled!3.3KViews3likes9CommentsLosing ability to set permission for individual cookies
Dear all, For the last 2 dev release, I've lost the ability to set the cookies individually to allow/delete when closed. OS: Windows 10 20H2 Build 19042.630 Edge: Dev88.0.702.0 64-bit My Edge is set to reject all cookies (whitelisting only). In older release (example is Edge version 86.0.622.69): 1. Open a webpage that loads cookies 2. On the URL bar, there is a cookie icon with red X (indicating that there are cookies that are blocked) 3. Click on it, the cookies setting pop up. On the blocked tab, select the cookie to allow/permit to load until closed. 4. Click allow to allow the cookies permanently (whitelisted) or click remove when finished (have the cookies available until Edge is closed). 5. A text confirms that the cookie is set to allow or set to remove when finished. 6. Click finish. 7. The notification bar will pop up asking to refresh (since you change the webpage settings). 8. The URL of where the cookie comes from was then set into the list (Website Permissions > Cookies > Allowed Cookies / Remove When Finished). Current Dev release no longer does that. Step 4-8 is no longer functional. The button, when clicked did nothing to each individual cookies, and the only way to whitelist cookies is to whitelist ALL cookies loaded for that page (which is not desired or wanted at all). I've uploaded a short video to explain what I meant. Can anyone try this in their release and see if it behaves the same? My suspicion was the code was broken when the dev team updates the code for the popup to show a message asking if the page is working or not (check attached screenshot - image.png). Thanks.Solved3.1KViews0likes6CommentsSome parts of the Privacy Sandbox land on Edge Canary
This flag edge://flags/#use-first-party-set which was added today to Edge Version 89.0.749.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) it's one of many privacy-related features for Privacy Sandbox, the goal of which is to ultimately get rid of 3rd party cookies. Use First-Party Sets First-Party Sets are sets of registrable domains (or origins). The browser uses these sets to allow websites that have multiple domains to treat their related domains as if they were first-party domains. This enables less restricted cross-domain communication across all the domains in a First-Party Set. – Mac, Windows, Linux Enable domains to belong to the same first party Goal:Enable entities to declare that related domain names are owned by the same first party. Many organizations own sites across multiple domains. This can become a problem if restrictions are imposed on tracking user identity across sites that are seen as 'third-party' but actually belong to the same organization. First Party Setsaims to make the web's concept of first and third parties more closely aligned with the real world's by enabling multiple domains to declare themselves as belonging to the same first party. more info: Digging into the Privacy Sandbox (web.dev) privacycg/first-party-sets (github.com)3.8KViews1like1CommentAdd the ability to import cookies and browser sessions between different channels of Edge browser
This would be a quite useful feature since people don't have to reauthenticate in every website once they change browser or decide to use the insider channels instead of stable. it'd be even better if you let Edge import cookies and browser sessions from different browsers.1.3KViews2likes2CommentsAdd Cookies import option when importing data from other browsers
It'd really help me to resume my work quickly in Edge if I could import cookies from other browsers to Edge, so I wouldn't need to login to all of the websites again and deal with their 2step verifications etc. I've used Yandex browser and it supports this feature, very helpful and convenient. so please Add it to Edge1.1KViews2likes0Comments[Suggestion] Only clear 3rd party cookies at browser exit
Blocking 3rd party cookies has so much merits in terms of security but it also has a flaw, some websites might not work. in Edge insider settings page it says: "Block third-party cookies When on, sites can’t use your browsing activity across different sites to personalize ads. Some sites may not work properly." I have it turned on regardless because for example when I go to YouTube.com, I only want youtube.com to save cookies in my browser, not facebook.com or google.com 3rd party cookies are mostly used for tracking your online activities. so to tackle the issue that comes with blocking 3rd party cookies, which is some websites might not work properly, I Suggest to add this new feature to the Edge insider browser: Delete Only 3rd party cookies at exit so with this method, you allow the website to set their 3rd party cookies, thinking they can track user's activity all over the web, but as soon as the browser is closed, all those 3rd party cookies will be deleted and only the 1st party cookies (main cookies) stay in the device, retaining user's login. I haven't seen it in any other browser. I really hope developers see this and add it to the Edge. will be a great addition to the Tracking Prevention system, make it robust.
