13 TopicsInherited column from parent missing
I've posted here as well, I'm not sure what the difference is between MS techcomm and MS Answers. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/content-type-inherited-column-missing/3669c2e1-3b95-4509-bbb9-2a4ceba8df44 The issue is, I have content types defined in the content type gallery, they are published and I can use them in sites. There is a hierarchy to these types, Approx 20 types inherit from 'Engineering Document' . There is a number field on this type ('Engineering Document') which on two sites so far, is not being inherited by the children. In the screenshot below, the left hand site is a view of a content type at the site level. On the right side is the same content type from the CT gallery. On the right hand side there is a field 'WFM Number' , but this is missing from the left. I don't understand how or why this is happening, or even beginning to diagnose. Even if I didn't care about the 'why' - how would I go about fixing it? Thanks for any help you can provide.309Views0likes0CommentsSet page template for a custom content type based on "Site Pages"
Hi all, I am creating a custom content type that is based on Site Pages. It provides the selection of the page template: However, using a custom page template here does not work. Depending on the permutation of the link, different things happen. /_layouts/15/SitePages/Templates/Wiki-Page.aspx -> Errors out /sites/team/SitePages/Templates/Wiki-Page.aspx -> Just opens the template as a page, not a new page based on the template. This is very unsatisfactory. It would be a bit better if the default view of a template that is opened in the second option would at least have a button that says something like "Create page based on template". But it does not. From there, I can only edit the template. The only way to use the template is Home -> New -> Page. Very annoying. How can I make this content type feature work so that the template is used correctly to create a new page?726Views0likes0CommentsDocument Set Content Type in New Menu
I know you can create a Document Set and drag it into another Document Set. But is there a way to allow a Document Set as a Content Type of Document Set? It will be more intuitive for end users to have a consistent new menu experience at each layer (we only want to have two maximum).1.4KViews0likes5CommentsCreate Standard Views For New Document Libraries
We are putting together a Project Directory Site which will contain a document library for each new project that gets created. I've added two columns to the Document Content Type so that these are included with each new library. Is there any way to change the default 'All Items' view to include these columns without having to manually add them via show/hide columns? Additionally, can we create a custom view (Such as group by 'Document Type') that would be included in every new document library? The idea is that we would have a standard set of documents be added to each library, and we don't want to make users have to recreate these views for every new library that gets created. Much appreciated!905Views0likes1CommentSome Custom Content Types cannot be added to lists or libraries / not showing
I am creating custom content types in the "content type gallery" on the ContentTypeHub site. Previous custom content types are available in my other SharePoint sites, but new ones cannot be added. I can see them in List Settings >Add Content Types, but not inList > Add New Column > Content Type. I cannot add them via either menu, in modern or classic view. Some of these are a week old, so it's not that they aren't available yet (and new ones show straight away on theList Settings >Add Content Types menu, where you can no longer add content types). I am stumped as to what the problem is. The issue persists for Libraries too and across different content types. Edit to make it clearer (as this was a common reason I've seen online): The Parent of the content types I want to add to lists are "Item". The Parent of the content types I want to add to libraries are "Document". I have just checked on another site and they are showing there, but not on the one I need them on.Solved2.5KViews0likes1CommentGraph API support for new content type sync enhancements

Greetings, I cannot find any information online regarding an issue I trying to solve. We have a modern document library, with Content Types assigned to Templates. The document library also has sub-folders. The issue is that within the root/parent level of the Document library, the new button Content Template listing, order & choices is correct. However, when you go into a sub-folder, it is different, and I cannot figure out how to make all sub-folders provide the same 'New Button' options as the parent/root level. Attached are (2) screenshots showing the difference. Much appreciated! --- Child / Incorrect version --- Root1.2KViews0likes1CommentPossible to migrate SP2013 Site Content Type to SharePoint Online's Content Services/Content Type?
We have a SharePoint 2013 Site Collection with approximately 200 subsites that allow inherit several content types from the parent. Since we're flattening the hierarchy during the migration to SharePoint Online, we'd like to move the content types to live in the central 'content services' content type area. Does anyone know if this possible to do during a migration or will we need to rebuild those content types and then map the subsites to the new location? Thank you in advance for any guidance.1KViews0likes1CommentPush content types from Content Type Gallery to a hub
Previously I have been using the old Content Type Syndication Hub to distribute custom content types to all my sites. However, I was frustrated by how long it took to publish changes and have been looking to move to SharePoint new modern Content Type Gallery feature (https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-sharepoint-blog/modernizing-sharepoint-managed-metadata-services-mms/ba-p/1277450and https://www.intelogy.co.uk/blog/diving-into-sharepoint-onlines-revamped-term-store-and-content-type-gallery/ ). On Microsoft's site, they specifically say you can push content types from the Gallery to hub sites for distribution to associated sites, and they even show this feature in a video:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/contentunderstanding/push-content-type-to-hub However, on my view, I have no option to push content types to a hub. (This is a brand new 'test' content type so there shouldn't be a problem with it being from a legacy content type hub, and I do have a proper modern hub site and associated sites). Is there some hidden setting I need to turn on to enable this feature? EDIT: Or perhaps this feature isn't necessary, since types in the Content Type Gallery automatically push to all sites in my tenant? (But if so, why does Microsoft document the feature...?)Solved2.5KViews0likes2CommentsHow To Create Library For Site Pages
We are using the modern Site Pages to publish our manual so it will be mobile friendly. We are very happy with the pages and how they present on a phone. Is there a way to create a document library that's content type is only Site Pages? Or is there a different type of library I should be creating?Solved2.9KViews0likes1Comment
