Live captions available in Microsoft Edge Picture-in-Picture mode
I tried it on this video that has captions available on YouTube and is in English, but it didn't work, so I'm not sure how and where it will appear, maybe not fully implemented in this build yet and will become usable in the future build. I'm also not sure whether this means Edge will just take the caption from a video like in YouTube and show it over the PiP, Or, it actually translates the voice of the video into captions and shows it to user which would be totally awesome (using speech to text capabilities). Video Super Resolution Missing Options in Setting
Enhance videos in Microsoft Edge (Flag: #edge-video-super-resolution) is missing critical options in setting, making it impossible to function properly. In Version 136.0.3240.29 (Official build) beta (64-bit), as well as the previous beta build, it is missing the option to choose from three methods of video enhancement, as shown in screenshot. Here is the setting from latest beta build: This is how it is supposed to look: Thus, beta build defaults to Microsoft Super Resolution and I can't find a way to use graphics driver enhancement like RTX Super Resolution, which is critical to my experience. Also, HDR is no longer supported when video enhancement is enabled, which I believe is a limitation of Microsoft Super Resolution.Some YouTube videos only play audio, no video, in Edge v116
ISSUE There is an issue in the Edge 116 stable-release with some YouTube videos. Some videos that used to play without-issue in the 115 release no-longer work in the 116 release: the audio on such videos will play, but not the video. Even most adverts on YouTube are affected! Suggestion (SS): 40 Classification: DATAHOARDING On Vivaldi i see different people posting other suggestions related to hoarding, so i decided to post here my other suggestions too (part 1 https://link.ws/edgess11), even if i know not all users will use it. I know that such suggestions can be reached (or at least in some parts) via scripts, extensions, terminal or macapps and are not the main focus of browsers. Said that, if you are interested read the post, otherwise skip it. I give you simply ideas, and such ideas are really hoarding focused. I know that this is maybe not legal for all websites too. those are just ideas. First we start with a feature that i never discovered before and after trying it i discovered in opera for mac we need to use option. i tried on edge and is not supported 2) i already talked about overlay button with both integration to mac or to onedrive as destination, or save to different folders in right menu, or drag drop download, or other https://link.ws/edgedatahoarder. another option would be to add a download button below each video and photo, no matter where. 3) about a smart select feature i already reported you before. Implemented on datahoarding activities means select 20 links and download all pdf at the same time (or other files). 4) a feature to detect images, document, movies, pdf in the site and download all that at once, or download only pdf for example. About images, would be better to download the full image, and not small pictures. 5) maybe add both option save to mac and open pdf in tab and maybe using a different destination, so download to /user/blabla/pdf and maybe sorted by source website. in such way we can directly read the paper too, and if needed we can copy that to other clouds directly once you implement the suggestion of importing in onedrive or you can directly integrate an option save to onedrive and to mac at the same time. 6) a way to copy a single link to a list and then copy the whole url in this list (this doesn't mean to use edge collections). once we are done we could use such lists to download files via other web apps, or mac app or terminal 7) a way to submit url to terminal directly, by adding specific terms (example https://www.pair.com/support/kb/paircloud-downloading-files-with-wget/). so we can manually add terms for wget, youtubedl, etc.. once we visit a page, we click right click or on the menu bar and select send to terminal and then we select wget or ytdl, or other. 😎integration of 7 for 6) 9) if i select 10 tabs an option to copy urls and maybe add support for 7) or 4) 10) a way to save such things to favorite without need to use bookmarks. in such way we know exactly where we get such files if someone ask us where we get that. the problem is that files show such metadata, but a lot of times is missing. 11) about 10) the feature of yesterday https://link.ws/edgevvss1 can help too. 12) a way to autorename all downloaded files, example if i use macuser A edge profile B i want on all my files a name like " xxx - macA edgeB" 13) renaming can be used for other goals too, like add the title of the post to the pdf, the url, or other information. 14) smart macos auto tags: we configure specific rules "like from website xx add tag xx" and add tag macA and edgeB too (related to 12.) 15) optionally add comments, but tags are much more useful. 16) like 5) an option to download files by source urls in specific folders. 17) torrent support like coccoc (i already reported that as comment in another post) 18) integrated vpn (same here) I copy the wish of another user here tooSS33: smart pip mode - better tiktok integration (or other video social/websites) picture-in-picture

Microsoft Edge version 90.0.817.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) you're going to need to enable this new flag first: edge://flags/#edge-video-comments-pdf You can add .webm format videos that are hosted online(like OneDrive, GDrive etc) to PDFs as comments. Edge will support inline playback of these videos. (Note: Users should have permission to access the video(URL) to be able to view it.) available on: Mac, Windows I added a 1080p mp4 file. you can move the video comment to anywhere on the screen, also can watch the video comment in full screen. Very nice feature in my opinion.
Potential Improvement - Content Decryption Unproductive CPU utilisation
MissyQDeleted Utility: Media Foundation Content Decryption Module Service consumes a lot of extra unwanted CPU as in the below screenshot it can be seen to be consuming 15% CPU in Browser Task Manager which it is consuming in vain by doing extra work of transferring the media data to the Windows Decription Module. Instead try optimizing it by sharing the bowser's media data with decryption module and render it by just drawing output frames of decryption module. This way it will be optimized like Films and Tv app which hardly consumes 1% CPU and just consumes GPU. Try to remove this middle decryption layer service as it is not performing any productive computation. The reason this small performance issue I am highlighting is that as the playback rate increases the CPU usage of this service increases which is not a good sign. I have conveyed it through feedback. This Video Playback through Media Foundation is a very important flag which if optimized will make it best upcoming built-in browser and this feature will also save much battery if optimized. oBypass Page Visibility API on mobile
On mobile side of the new Edge. It respects Page Visibility API what is common thing on video and other media content sites. PVA is a way to tell the player (inside of a page) that the device don't anymore see it and then it pause the content playing. That means no background play. PVA is a web standard, but if it give end users bad experience, then we need to give that user a option to disable PVA behavior. Only way now for users to use background play is to load desktop version of the site and run the player from there. Then it start to have performance issue and that is one what we don't want. So can devs for new Edge take this a something what think about.
