For the past week whenever we share a file the recipient is not receiving the email notification that a file has been shared with them. We're manually having to copy the shared link and send an additional email to let them know we've shared a file. Can someone share some insight? Thanks!1.9KViews0likes1CommentOneDrive Sharing Links - Does the "Guest Access Expiry policy" Apply to "Specific People" Links?
I'm having an issue with a OneDrive integration in an application I'm developing. The integration allows creating "Specific People" sharing links, which are emailed to external users and require them to authenticate their email before accessing the shared file/folder. I have seen in many places that "Specific People" sharing links do not expire. There is no expiry field available when creating the link, and I can't find any expiry settings in the Sharepoint Admin Center that seem to apply to "Specific People" links. However, some of my clients using my OneDrive integration have noticed that many of their "Specific People" links get dropped unexpectedly after a period of one or two months. I have also been able to reproduce this issue in my developer account. There is one setting in the Sharepoint Admin Center that seems like it might apply: Guest Access to a site or OneDrive will expire automatically after this many days Since I've seen many references to the fact that "Specific People" links never expire, I thought this setting was not relevant. I also interpreted "Guest Access" as referring to "Guest Users", which can be added in the M365 Admin Center. My integration does not make any use of Guest Users, so I felt fairly confident that this setting did not apply to my use case. However, I can't seem to find definite confirmation that this "Guest Access Expiry" setting does not apply to "Specific People" links. Since my clients links keep getting dropped, and I've now been able to reproduce this on my own account, I have to assume this is either a bug in OneDrive, or that this setting - or another setting I've not yet found - is causing the links to disappear. I've noticed on my own account that some emails get dropped off of the "Specific People" link after a certain period of time, while others do not. Even though I added all the emails to the link at the same time. This inconsistency makes it seem more like a big than something that is being controlled by an admin setting. Can someone please confirm whether the setting I referenced affects "Specific People" links, and/or if there is another OneDrive/Sharepoint/M365 setting that can cause "Specific People" links to be dropped after a certain period of time? Has anyone else noticed "Specific People" links getting dropped over time, or just one or two of the emails on a multi-person link getting dropped?534Views0likes3CommentsSharing popup remains blank
Hi! Sometimes when I want to share a document from my OneDrive using my explorer, I get a popup that doesn't load. It just remains blank, instead of showing the fields for email addresses, message etc. What can be the cause of this and how to avoid it? Hi all, I wanted to drop by and let interested folks know about a new feature we are rolling out to help users deal with "unhealthy" links! We've seen a few cases recently where a user makes some permission changes (such as breaking inheritance manually via permissions API's) that can cause sharing links to become unhealthy, which means the links exist but they no longer grant actual access to the item. In these cases, the sharing dialog still returns the link but the recipient will be unable to use it. To help with these cases, we've made a change to Manage Access to now show these unhealthy links along with a new string to help guide users. In order to use that type of sharing link again, users can delete the existing link and then create a new one. Please note that in some cases, re-sharing the item with the same settings can often allow the service to automatically fix the link with no end user impact. We'll begin rolling this feature out to all customers soon. If you have any questions, please let me know! We’re updating how sharing mails are sent from SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business. We made a change earlier this year to send sharing mails from the sharing user's Exchange Online mailbox. At that time, we also stopped CC'ing the sender as the mails will now appear in that user's Sent Items folder. We received feedback from customers that many of their users did not have Exchange Online and relied upon the CC field as part of their workflow. We have therefore resumed CC'ing sharing mails when the sharing user does not have an Exchange mailbox. We'll be gradually rolling this out to customers and will complete our rollout in October17KViews6likes3CommentsThe page you requested is temporarily unavailable. Hi all, We had a user share a OneDrive folder with an external user. The external user clicked the link and was prompted for a Microsoft login after entering their email address. My guess is that at some stage, they associated their work email with a Microsoft account and forgot about it? Anyway, I'm just wondering is it possible to allow external users use a One Time Passcode for situations like this? Or would they have to reset their MS account? I could be wrong with what happened here, just my best guess.645Views0likes0CommentsOneDrive sharing with groups
Hello, We have a M365 group that has around 130 users in it and used it to share a file every week to users. Now all of a sudden it has stopped working and displays the message below: I have tried recreating the group and it still does the same thing. I have tried other M365 groups and they seem to work just fine. I tried recreating this group as a mail-enabled security group with no luck as well. This happens in both the web and desktop app versions of OneDrive as well as the Office Desktop Apps. Any help is greatly appreciated!4.3KViews0likes6Comments
