4 TopicsSharing Templates xltx, dotx via MS Teams and Sharepoint
We have created a team in Ms Teams whose primary purpose is to hold MS Office document type templates mainly Excel & Word. So, there is a channel in MS Teams where we upload the various templates (xltx, dotx files). We then use SharePoint to create hyperlinks to those files. This allows us to create applications where you can click on a hyperlink to access the template. It all works well except for one thing - when you click on the Sharepoint hyperlink it opens the template. I am having difficulty working out how to arrange it so that when you click on the link it spawns a new document. That is we want to replicate the same functionality as it would if you opened a template on your desktop. To access a template you first must open say Excel and then from within Excel open the document. So, I guess the issue is when you click on the hyperlink, SharePoint is creating a scenario where it assumes you have opened Excel already and therefore takes you into the template. For obvious reasons this is not what we want because it will result in users corrupting the xltx, dotx files.10KViews0likes9CommentsFYI: Gotcha with OneDrive Settings > Regional Settings interface ...
FYI in case someone else strikes this. I could not save changes to the Regional Settings until I realized that the OK and Save buttons were hidden behind the Settings panel. Once I hid the Settings panel by clicking the gear icon I could see and click the OK button (see images below). I know that this is probably a very noob thing but happy to get that tag if it saves another noob a bit of time. :) And never really understood why the OK and Cancel buttons were placed on the far right of settings pages but ... I would like to globally set certain settings and features for all/a subset of Sharepoint sites within a given tenant. Examples: Activate certain site features for users in a given group/all users in the tenant for their ODfB Give 'Data Governors' security group access to all sharepoint online sites (ODfB, Private, Teams and Groups) Set versioning settings of all current and future libraries These settings should apply to current and future sites that fall in the criteria (either all or a security group). How can this be done? Thanks,1.2KViews0likes1Comment
