Modern Communications Site
4 TopicsSearch goes to page but not place in page?
I am working on an intranet site using SP modern communications pages. Our old site does not have search, so the search in SP is a huge selling point. We have built out a great deal of content and I am starting to test the search function. I am finding that when I search, I just get a list of documents / site pages that contain the word. When I select an item from the list, it just takes me to the top of the page containing the search word, not to the point in the page. Is this the limit of search functionality, or am I missing something. If I have a 90 page operations plan that used to be in PDF format that has been converted to a SP page and I search for a word only to be taken to the top of the page and have to search the page again using the browser, then I don't understand really what the point of the search in SP is. . . Someone please tell me I am an idiot and am missing something really basic. Thanks!957Views0likes2CommentsExpand search to all items in this site link refers to the old keyword in Communication Site
In the communication site under the document library when we search for any keyword we get Expand search to all items in this site at the bottom of the page like this. When we click on this it redirects to the global search result page with below URL /_layouts/15/search.aspx/siteall?q=22072019 Now if we search for any other keyword in the document library and click on the link it still shows the search results for the old keyword. From the analysis, I found that when we search for the new keyword it is not updating the query string value for the Bottom link. Once, I refresh the page then, it redirects to the search result page with a new searched keyword. Is this a known issue for the Communication site? Is there any other way to allow the user to search for the whole site from the document library? Hello All, Looking for some best practice feedback from the community. When we were assigned a SharePoint tenant as part of our Office 365 subscription, our SharePoint home page is old (classic) Wiki page by default. What is the best practice to replace the default home page with a modern SharePoint communications page and redirect the current home URL https://xxx.sharepoint.com to the new home page. It will be great to get some perspective what the community is doing in this regard!Solved2.7KViews1like6Comments
