I have a hierarchy of folders available for all members of the department in a SharePoint Document Library. There are 6 divisions of the department that have their own folder. In these divisional folders, members are allowed to add/edit files here. How do I prevent members from accidentally moving one of those main divisional folders into another divisional folder? What are the permission steps that I can take to make this work? I have attached a photo of my example.29KViews0likes5CommentsHow can user automatically get access to all folders above in the path?
We are having a request, when user shares a document on Sharepoint server, user can access the document via the link and the folder, but when user navigates to the library root folder, user is not able to navigate manually to that document because he/she doesn't have permission to access folders above. Is there a way to let user to manually navigate to the document that is shared to him, because it really makes hard to users to always search for the links to be able to access the documents. For example, the document is shared to user: Documents > Folder1 > Folder2 > Document.xslx User is able to access Document.xslx and Folder2 using the link, but we want to make all the folders in the path visible, so the user can manually navigate to that document. Of course, we want to make only folders visible, but the other content, that user doesn't have any permissions, remains unvisible to the user. We are using Sharepoint On-premise.844Views0likes0CommentsBest practice for external sharing: Document Library vs Folder
Hello, I'd like to start a discussion to learn about your point of view regarding best practices for sharing content with external users. I'm currently faced with the following scenario and question. Scenario: A site collection should be set up to allow multiple external partners to access and collaborate with our company. Security wise, these areas should be invisible to each other (thinking unique permissions) so that one partner is not able to see the files/folderes of another. Question: Should I create a document library with unique permissions for each partner or is it enough to share folders as both ways allow for setting unique permissions? What's your take? Thanks!Solved15KViews0likes9Comments
