Systems ignore Windows 10 Feature updates policies and never upgrade

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask a question prior to the session but I'll try in case i can't make it in the morning. We started using Intune (comanagement) for Windows 10 device updates a few months ago and every month we only seem to get to about 80% compliance before the next Patch tuesday. Last month we actually got to 85% but obviously need to get it higher than that. How can we determine why this 15-20% of devices are not getting updated? Second question - Why do some systems ignore Windows 10 Feature updates policies and never upgrade but when we manually check for updates on the device it updates without any error or message regarding an incompatible driver or application?

  • jalvarez77 thank you for reaching out! In terms of compliance, are you leveraging the new deadline policy within Intune? There are a variety of policies you can configure that will slow compliance, so it is important to ensure that you aren't setting any of those (check out Ignite talk on Intune policies here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/video-hub/setting-up-windows-update-for-business-via-microsoft-intune/td-p/1681524).

In terms of monitoring there is both Intune analytics as well as Update Compliance which you can utilize to determine why devices are not up to date.

Devices should not be ignoring the configured policies. Please file a bug if that is the case.

Please let me know if you have any further questions! 🙂
